so what is it? just real life time stretching?
man i want to be able to change tempo per track if i want too..

i usually program other sounds in first track. guitar, brass, synths and then i go to second track to add drums. but if i pp it (patch phrase it!) the speed might be too slow or too fast..then i have to change the bpm which changes the tempo for the whole sequence and i have to re arrange errthang ;(

naw, no you don't. you just need to learn how to sequence homie...

first off you should really only be using patch phrae for drums if you are trying to loop whole drum breaks (though sometimes ill patch phrase the break to the tempo of my beat then resample it and chop it up and sequence it myself). second, i bet the reason you think the tempo is off is your not entering the right length of your patch phrase. for example if you got a 2 bar drum break and you enter 1 bar when you convert it its going to sound twice as fast as you want if you entered 4 bars its going to sound twice as slow etc.

try just chopping normally into slices and manually sequencing them yourself for a minute and youll better understand how tempo and bars and quarternotes work..

ya dig?

i knew it!!!!!!!!!!

me and a few noobies have had discussions about this..trying to figure out how to "properly" use patch phrase..and it seems it works the best only on drum breaks...

so for slowing down samples really you should use time stretch?

MAJOR, I want to setup all my QLinks for use on the Main view. But its impractical to retarget them all manually each time I switch a pad. So they sit there useless.
(did that make sense?)

Minor, Id like quick and easy time-stretching and better swing implementation.

Niggle, When I edit end points in the sample editor, Id like the value Im adjusting with the Q-Link to be automatically selected on the LCD so when I enter a numeric I dont have to toggle my selection each time.

Specifically, the method for the time-stretch, four Qlinks:

1st Qlink stretches/shrinks with the start of the sample fixed.
2nd Qlink, both directions evenly.
3rd Qlink, fixed end point.
4th Qlink simply nudges the sample forward and back on the track.
(shift modifier for no snap on all four a must and a fine-tune modifier also)

In realtime, with full playback audition.

Too much?

eh, i would really only use time stretch if the sample is pretty close to (like within a 5 or so bpm difference max) the tempo i want to stretch it to. mostly tho i just tune up or down to speed up or slow down the sample. don't take my word on that tho im used to older mpcs where the time stretch sounded like ass if you stretched too far. i have not really tested the new time stretch a ton and i just like the workflow/sound of just pitching samples. with exceptions, of course.

and yeah, from my point of view i would settle down on the patched phrase a bit if i were you. you need to learn how to chop and sequence better for now. i wouldnt be surprised if most people dont even use pp all that much. others are prob different but i ONLY use patch phrase every once in a while and really only for drum break type shit.

and like i said.... when making a patch phrase MAKE SURE YOU ENTER THE RIGHT # OF BARS!! if you dont know how to count bars holler.

peace

Automatic recognition of bpm
ability to time stretch in real time
possibility to delete duplicate plugins in the list of plugins
possibility to open the interface of multiple plugins at once
more editing tools on the grid

1. Realtime time stretch applied to patch phrase.

---This feature would allow for the "Elastic" setting to be toggled on or off in program edit master window (or any other program edit window).
---It could be a global program edit, or a per pad setting.
—When linked to the sequencers BPM, it would automatically time stretch all samples, chops, or patched phrases, in a given program, to sync with the corresponding BPM of the sequencer.
---This particular incorporation of the elastic concept, would not only allow AKAI to effectively "catch up" with Ableton or Avid's Transfuser "elastic audio”. And especially when coupled with applying it to all chops or patched phrases as a global program edit, would EXCEED the aforementioned programs' capabilities, and have great appeal to consumers across all genres of music production.

2. Sampling on the MPC Renaissance/studio, from iTunes and other apps as an INPUT selection.

---When iTunes/etc are selected as an INPUT in the Sample REC window, the software would display the exact same user interface developed for the iMPC Pro.
---This would likely noticeable increase sales in both directions across the range of MPC products.....allowing aspirational buyers of the iMPC Pro to be encouraged to upgrade to better hardware and interfacing, without losing a very nice feature, endemic to the younger generation of Akai's target market.... As well as convincing longtime professional MPC users to buy iMPC products and have a nice shared workflow for when they're not in their professional studio.

3. Effects

—SAMPLING THRU EFFECTS ! …By adding at least 4 inserts as an option in the SAMPLE REC window, to sample thru effects (especially the surprisingly great compressor algorithm used in the MPC 4000) is a much needed addition, to make the MPC software's sampling options truly professional.
—Compressor and EQ integrated in the program Mixer or Prog edit would be nice too.

4. Realtime quantize on a track/program/global basis.
—With full recall of settings.
—It should include a shift setting where the user can nudge any selected thing independently from the quantize, down to each tick of the 960PPQ resolution. You can lift that function directly from the MPC-4000

Other worthwhile ideas:

Plug-in delay compensation

Drag & drop samples to assign in a program from sample edit window

Automatic BPM detection
—When a sample is trimmed, there should be an option to set the number of bars it occupies, then an automatic calculation of it’s BPM.

Audio tracks (for those who want it to be a standalone workstation and don’t want to dump to ProTools or another DAW)

ASR-10 vintage mode (with heavy bass and LOTS of 2nd and 3rd order harmonic distortion across the audible range)

How about "SLICED AUDIO INTO Sequence-BPM-controlled realtime timestretched SLICED sequence"

Even when we play chops like primo, we can adjust the BPM of any sequence from the main page, and all chops of sliced audio, in that particular track/program, will auto-timestretch globally in conjunction with the change in BPM. (if we choose "time stretched patch phrase")

That is what 2015 patch phrase should be.

All other new features should be secondary to that one.

i know a bar is 4 beats. but then i get all messed up ;/

and yea thats all ive used pp for. drums. cuz i cant get it to work with other shit..

also i dont like tuning shit too much..atleast not if i want something to be longer. thats why i like the time stretch. plus for the most part when you time stretch it sounds almost the same. so you can just adjust with pitch editor after that and get it to sound like the original but now faster/slower.

yay-e-yaaaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeee

and last but not least..we should get lil option to delete samples completely if we delete a program...or atleast be able to alt+click or be able to drag on the sample window to choose a bunch of samples that we ant to delete.
