It is purely a button smashing machine and I need that. That's all. Peace.

I don't know but if it retains the sturdy, tactile, expansive, vibe of the Ren and has an even better audio interface with more outs then Akai can have my money!

The Ren's going to be one of those future classics that people keep hold of and use.
The touch has never interested me, I'm happy with the build and where the software is going.
Apart from early software bugs and a scratchy ren volume pot, it's all good!

Only if Akai keep supporting it, or if people keep old computers with old operating systems to run it. I think it'll be long forgotten before it has chance to get 'classic' status.

That´s always the issue with hardware that´s dependent on software...its short lifespan.

^ a new MPC doesn't make the Ren hardware obsolete. It will make the new MPC build on the old concept, having more functions and capabilities.

That's what I'm saying, they can implement the OS, so old and new hardware can be supported.

This is the reason why Java programs are popular because they are platform independent.

I'm wondering if there is a way to implement a separate touch screen to the Ren in the future? Could this even be a possibility? I guess switching back and forth from the REN to the screen could be really annoying.
