I don't own the hardware MPC I purchased 16 years ago (which Akai stopped supporting 14 years ago) so I am certainly not worrying about support of the Ren 25 years from now. Chances are, I will be using the Ren's replacement whether it is from Akai or another company...if I am even interested in still beating on a drum machine.

The same concerns that are brought up about the Ren applies to any number of products to include hardware MPCs, Pro Tools HD systems, my car and TV that cost significantly more than the Ren.

If the harddrive fails on my computer I use for the Ren, I can put in another one. Not too different than the floppy drive, CF card drive, zip drive, etc failing in a hardware MPC. Parts for todays computers are significantly more available than parts for a hardware MPC. Remember Mac G4s? You can still get perfectly working Mac G4s and parts for these computers which were released 14 years ago and discontinued approx 9 years ago. I suspect I will be able to acquire a perfectly good working 2013 iMac and parts for it in a decade. Besides....I think USB will still be supported in future computers...and I believe I will be able to install todays Win and OSX software (that is currently compatible with the Ren/Studio software) on future computers.

And if Akai ever goes bankrupt, I will pick up their assets and ensure Ren/Studio users will be able to authorize their software for years to come.

I was merely making a general observation based on what I've been seeing here for the past year from the various members who post here in the Ren forum, i.e. that much of the anger on these forums about the Ren in reality is really anger towards Akai as a company in general, so for those people seeing a bunch of updates to theRen isn't going to do much about changing their overal perception of Akai, not yet at least.

Ok, when I get home tonight, I will be sure to put my 1968 Gibson Les Paul Custom in the trash. I'll throw my 1984 Oberheim OB-8 and OB-Xa in the pile along with my Juno-60. Then I'll call my brother and instruct him to trash his 1956 Gibson Les Paul.

I'll have to trash several other guitars: 1968 Gibson SG coms to mind first, what about my 1984 Gibson Flying V? it is probably trash also. I guess the Jupiter-8 is also going...

but someone from the Australian Akai collectors museum came in here and told us the software gonna go out of date and your computers won't be able to run it anymore
