Finally got some time to update to 1.3 today and so far im very pleased. most of what i was doing revolved around checking the areas where it was glitchy and unstable for me and the little things that made it feel unpolished. the flat out bugs on my biglist i figured would make themselves known if they were still unaddressed. so farall of it feels very stable to me and very responsive. i did run into the issue imakemadbeats found with the slice markers appearing to the left after deleting one...def odd behavior...

what impressed me so far:
responsiveness of the qlinks
speed of loading programs
new plugin program multitimbral implementation
sp1200 ring - at first i wasnt impressed messing around with it until i loaded up a full song i did in 1.2...made the drums sound real tasty
the overall stability ... gone are the little glitches that annoyed me like latent screen artifacts and jumbled fonts, inconsistent behavior when moving between screens,etc,... seems like it was all addressed

will have more time withmit this weekend to use it fully and def more work needs to be done, but so far i think 1.3 was a very good job in my opinion

Absolutely correct. Most Beta testers and the software programmers sit there and basically doddle around. If they actually made a full song they would notice all sorts of stuff that isnt quite right

And of course whether its Maschine, Ren, Tempest, Spark or any Daw/software combo, there are thousands of internet forum experts dishing out dubious advice - and all they have ever done is create a one bar loop and twiddle various parameters.

Still dont have the Ren.

But tested loading of MPC4000 AKP and Midi files.
Everything I threw at it loaded but thats not to say the parameters translated perfectly. Thats not a bug - obviously the filters on the 4k are different. I also noticed some level discrepancies which I have a feeling is something to do with velocities. I dont think is a bug - its just more to do with the way the 4k handles its velocity curve and how the Ren interprets it. Some patches were totally fine and some werent BUT none were so bad you couldnt easily tweak a few settings and be pretty much where you want to be. As Im using the demo and have to put up with that looooong and really loud white noise every 10 seconds or so its difficult to properly test and listen out for stuff...

NOTE: Akai, does your demo need to be so oppressive and limiting in the extreme. Your software is going to get cracked - its a foregone conclusion. Consider pushing potential customers to buy your product rather than pissing them off with the worst demo of software I have ever experienced!. The very fact I cant really test this thing is probably the reason I haven't purchased it yet.

One thing I noticed was that some of the drum ryhtm midi files from my 4k didnt play back exactly. Often I will move notes around in the 4k by tick values so stuff isnt hard quantised For example shifting a clap back from the snare by a few ms. I dont know why (yet) but some of those shifted notes were quite a bit off. When I say off Im talking about a few ms here and there. It could be those particular sounds parameters werent translated properly and then sounded off? But as I say I cant really tests properly with the demo software. If and when I do get the ren I will test stuff like this properly

^^^@labcoats^^^this is the reason i love the reason beta testers, i have beta tested for reason5, record, and reason6.5 and there are sooo many beta testers and a whole beta tester part of their forum that you can only access if you are a tester. people really pull out the bugs and im always surprised how deep some people go, they release beta updates every so often addressing the bugs so testers can keep testing... but hey, akai/numark is no propellerhead..

Same goes for Ableton.

I really like how it shows what is the next sequence that will play. For me it's the small things really matter. Loving the update a lot. Can't wait to dive deeper into it this weekend.

what you talkin bout willis? :-D

serious elab..plz

A looping mode that, after reaching loop end point, plays in reverse from loop end to loop start instead of skipping back to start point.
I've used that for my drums for so many years, it's an annoyance for me to be without it...I don't timestretch drum hits if they fall short, I use reverse loop.

That would be the Elektron Octatrack it innovates while others struggle to recreate the past ...
