On the contrary, if we use this thread as an example it's the "new generation" that are the most pissed, and the older heads are much more open to the idea.

I can understand Akai's approach to the so called "new school" movement of technology with integrating hardware and software but to say this MPC acts as a standalone to me is

That's what the other MPC's are, standalone, with the ability of the 5000, 2500, and 1000 able to have a USB port and then there is the MPD's which can be used as straight control surfaces. And I understand this MPC is more then just USB, it made to integrate with its own DAW like the Machine and this is obviously what Akai wants to compete with.

I def will not knock it till I see it in person and check what it can do. If its not for me cool, I enjoy my 2000K and 2500, and use my Axiom 49 as a control surface with Reason, and track to Pro Tools.

Yeah, you sit there and twiddle your thumbs for it. It's 4 years since they announced it could be another 1, or 2 before it's released. That's if the project don't stagnate beforehand.

And this is exactly what people did waiting for Tempest.

Akai doesn't give a shit about us. They focus on the 17yr old suburban beatmaking highschool hustler who's making beats on his mac book he got for getting his grades this semester. Not for serious musicians/ artists. Hence the promotion video.

Eventhough this could be a very good concept. Something that could extend our life as hardware producers. If it only can be used as a standalone, and the software purely for making programs or recording tracks or intergrating vst's, then this really will help the hadware guys integrate into the software world.

But, always keep in mind. This is Akai we're dealing with as you know. So I think that they didn't not even took the effort trying to give the REAL mpc owners something to be pleased with.

I didn't wait for it though. I didn't even know it was due to be released so quick. I'd heard about it, never interested me until I tested it out. Was originally going with a Machinedrum to go with the Octatrack but fell in love with the Tempest.

Pretty nice video of the Tempest if your into electronic music.

The reason why there's very few vids is because most places are waiting to be restocked. Initially I know DV in my local area only got a couple. Give it a month and there will be loads to see.

I dont care what reason they are not in stock. An $2000 drum machine is not relevant. I have yet to even see them in any stores here in Japan. You must order them.

reason I ask is because I came up with that idea awhile back. Akai should pay me: dual processors

dvd burner can read all formats

digital ins & outs 8 analog outs standard

usb 3.0

drag & drop samples from your desktop

classic mode= the ability to go into MPC60 OR 3000 mode w/12 bit sound

more filters such as SP 1200 sound alike filter

rewire to DAW

up to 32g card reader

open source OS

install memory on the back of the machine (2 screws)

no hard drive limit

backward compatibility with all MP's

color screen

VGA out w/ dual monitor connects

multiple undo's

auto chop 2.0 something like MELODYNE

call it the ROGER LINN TRIBUTE EDITION!!!!!

nukai is digging their own grave... here's my message to nukai....

new kids won't buy it, old generations won't buy it. it's a waste of resources, money and time.. and we all can't wait for you to go under already. nukai has PROVEN time and time over they DO NOT care AT ALL about their customers but they care about the bottom line DOLLAR. Your ideas are as cheap as the products you develop. this thing is beyond crap. why try to make some machine of the future when all the loop holes you leave open make it unusable anyhow? it's more about the MARKETING than the actually product. they just use all this bullcrap smoke and mirrors to get you to buy it and THINK you may like it. it's useless. it's not an MPC... it's not. it's not. so why call it that? I'm almost disappointed at how disappointed i truly am... i mean, it's not like ANYONE was expecting ANYTHING from you guys... but this is just a nail in the coffin. burn in heck, nukai... you guys don't even know who you're catering to. your reputation alone is what's going to drown you out. everyone knows the deal now... it's a matter of time. you are a million dollar sinking ship. and let's think.... if the OS is as WACK as the OS akai makes for EVERYTHING..... this thing is simply a headache in a box.. and JJ won't be saving it.

i am now stepping off my illogical rant box... the floor is now open.

ps.. peace to the mpc-forums and the moderators and users. we are all a family whether we agree or not. but at least we have a place to spit wreckless in to the internet.

*turns mpc 1k w/ jjos1 on*

now maybe i can buy all the 2500, 1k, and 3ks up.
