Please can you explain in a little more detail which stage of the circuitry has been used from the 3000.

from the jack all the way to the A/D and D/A convertors is MPC 3000. THe gain structure of the rec gain knob is the same, and the volume knob gain structure is the same as well. the only change made is we tap in before the A/D conversion at one point for direct monitoring, but that doesnt affect the signal path in any way.

I get it... Wow. This is an amazing product. The ability to load files from my 1000 and edit and rework things on the ren: Nice. They need to make nice with JJ. If this could load JJ files it would be a killer. You could then edit and resample on the ren and dump it back onto the 1000. Having this compatible with all old Mps is brilliant.

Standalone mode along with the traditional eight 1/4" outs would make it even more brilliant...

I agree entirely, and I wont be buying it. Not because it isn't a great product. I just prefer a stand alone unit. I do see this as the present though, and that in a way I am stuck in the past. That being said, with the rapid advancement of technology, stand alone units will return...

I just had to chime in as I originally had some harsh words for Akai using the MPC name.. It seems like a damn good product after reviewing just a few of these videos. It also keeps the MPC name alive.

I believe Akai has learned a lot from this forum. Especially from JJ and his loyal fans. Now they have a product that they can accept requests and add new features without degrading their flagship. Hope JJ gets a job.

Same...if there is a MKII released, that has the same features, but also can be used in standalone mode + has eight outs, I would most likely buy one- even taking into account the increase in price.
