There is no company today that produces sampling drum machine workstations better than Numark/Akai. Saying otherwise a thousand times won't change this fact. They also produce the best drum pad controllers from my experience.

Just listened to Nas' new album. He said "Hate is confused admiration." You admire the hell out of Akai and the things they do. So do I.

Regardless...the thread is about audio tracks not your perceived obstacles.

ok... let's look at this typical jah post here... tell me how this does NOT qualify as spam. read that post line by line... it says nothing other than "all praise akai". it also says we're not allowed to speak our minds here... if i tag that post as SPAM will it get removed from the board? it's time to fight fire with fire...

I can't disagree. Audio tracks is high on my list of wants. But so is real time manipulation of audio tracks as you see the leading DAWs have...time stretching, pitch shifting, audio warp markers, etc.

I see Ren as a tool that Remixers would reach for first....if the product is developed to include these features.

LOL I ASSumed that the all-in-one meant that I would be using the ren as a control surface (Akai DAW) as well and could program straight into a DAW... I gotta read up more on this cause the video was more vague than I thought... I was mesmerized lol

I was thinking it would more be like a APC/MPC combo and when offline would still operate like an MPC but perhaps they figured that would kill the market :?:

Damn, didn't see this thread before. Didn't read through the whole thing. But IMO, audio tracks are very important now that the MPC is in a computer environment with VST capability. People with weaker computers are gonna need to bounce VI's to audio to save CPU. Other than that, it wouldn't really be a necessity to me, especially if a person already has DAW software that they use in conjunction with the MPC! I can see audio tracks being really important for adding live elements though!

Audio tracks would be a nice to have for vocals.

I don't think it makes sense to include this feature, however, unless REN or Studio can actually produce an entire project without the use of Protools, Logic, DP, etc. That has to be the goal or the entire effort is pointless. The 5000 can create an entire draft quality CD with out using a DAW.

Right now, REN/Studio is either a plugin, or a standalone with an export feature, I can't make a song with vocals (converted to an .mp3) to upload to youtube without help from another DAW.

Audio Tracks are important ONLY IF the REN/Studio also gives me the ability to produce an entire rough cut album (cd audio or mp3) without ever touching another DAW. Which means any other feature that is required to accomplish that goal must also be added.

Note: I did not say a user could not use another DAW, but the user should not have to use another DAW.

Well, that was the whole point of the Ren, to be the only go to software for music production. Without audio tracks they already making me use alternatives. If they expect to be ahead of the competition, they better damn well be ahead in features at launch. If the customer thinks "well I can do this with Maschine and PT9." then the product is already just an alternative on the market and nothing unique. There will be sales but nothing to dominate the market.

Also, how can Akai not get MIDI sync right? That was their bread and butter since the MPC60, hence the term MIDI Production Center as the original name for MPC.

The competition also doesn't have audio tracks....neither does most hardware MPCs.

well, my 2500 had an unreliable midi-sync running akai os. jjos solved this problem. everything is rock solid now.

that´s not the point. the point is, why the ren doesn´t have audio tracks!

fyi, my 2500 running jjosxl does have audio tracks. so does the 1000 (running jjosxl). and my mv8800 had them as well...

The jjos has audio tracks. So, for $1299 the Ren should too. I'm just sayin.
