They are some seriously talented people.
Someone told me it was the guy who created win amp all those years ago
G

It is from the same developer as Winamp. Reaper is very dope.

You bought a Ren or Studio? If so, welcome to the family.

thanks Boom

sorry guys if it went in maschine thread god know we had enough of those
it was just interesting that Boom started on the ren/studio and went to maschine
or the darkside  so i got different perspective.

realistically we are looking at three or four updates before we are really up and
running with the ren. so this time next year maybe :?:

well at least we know where we stand should paid updates ever arise

While there are some things I would like improved, I am up and running right now.

well that's good to hear but i don't think everyone is so fortunate. your expectations
are more realistic than most, if everyone was up and running we wouldn't have a forum we'd be busy bangin out tracks, or if i was in jp going out diggin' for the amazing records they got out there.

i personally find the vst part of the ren thats the real problem area, if you sample only you are ok. so thats why i say three or four updates and we are all up and running

if your going to buy one this is what you need to take on board.

This forum has been up for 10 years dedicated to arguably the best sampling drum machine product line ever created. And in spite of having the best tools on the market, we are here talking about it daily. I don't think this will change. In fact, further improvements to the Ren will just make this site more popular IMO.

Being a mpc2k, 4k and 5k owner. I don't think we going to see to many updates from akai supporting the ren software, unless akai sells a hell of lot of rens and studios. Akai left the 5k high and dry, almost instantly, because it didn't sell well. Why update something only a few people brought.?

Akai and numark reminds me of the medicine manufactures. There's no money in giving you the cure for cancer. There's money in the treatment. So if akai gives you the perfect sample drum machine. Will you continue to buy there latest models?

You can also forget about 3rd party developers. Outside support for the mpc1k and 2500 was a fluke. That problem was straighten out now. That's why there's no jjos for the mpc5k.

JAH wrote:As far as paid updates....too early to discuss that IMO.

:Sigh: It should never even be part of a discussion.

* A customer paying for updates should never come up unless it's expressly laid out before a purchase or the product is approaching EOL status. NO EXCEPTIONS!

There are no forum rules prohibiting this topic. So if the OP wants to discuss it, he can continue to do so.

JAH wrote:While some of you just love to bring Maschine into the conversation....it really is no competition to the Ren.

Sooner or later you're gonna have to realize that Maschine is very much competition to the Ren. When you have a product stealing your existing and potential customers, that is huge competition! The fact that people are constantly comparing the two all over the internet, all over the world, is evidence enough. Everywhere you turn there's a Maschine vs Ren debate or question. Remember the hare that lost the race to the turtle because he didn't see the turtle as a real competitor?!
