Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I wanted to say a mpc like the open labs model...meaning a mpc with idd a laptop build in it, stripped down version windows optimized for the mpc software, a keyboard(typing) and a mouse sliding out of the side, and u can slide them back in again, so its a mpc with a 14" screen or 17" screen, with all possible hardware knobs and sliders, so,u don't have to use mouse or keyboard...with all software and vst"s u need to make complete productions, maybe separate software, for audio tracks..
but then again, all the open labs neko, miko products seem,to be vanished... So,might not be a good idea...i just thought instead of connect it with a laptop build one inside...
but we will see... I'm really thinking bout getting a oldskool hardware mpc tho" so I can sit and chill at the table and make music...without "computing"

So you want Akai to build proprietary PC hardware into an MPC?

Does anyone really think Akai could pull this off, after seeing where they left the MPC1000/2500/5000, and how long it is taking them to get MPC Software cleaned up?

^^^ +1000

No way Akai could, nor should try, to pull this off.

Akai needs to do something cuz this is a demand everyone seems to want. They should have realized this when they had to clarify in thier FAQ on their site that the ren is a controller . They abandoned a feature that was a foundation in the process of making music.eg go into a room plug machine in wall plug in headphones load up sounds make song from start to finish.i bought the ren yet I find myself still using my 1000 ....only cuz I really don't like to sit starring into a computer screen . Akai needs to build a mpc 4000xl or 2500xl..ect and incorporate it with the mpc software and make it compatible with the legacy series ...they have an opportunity to bring the whole series back to life...akai you r a Shepard not a sheep !

I think there is a growing number of people that feel the same.

There's no telling what's on their table right now, but I'm hoping it's something similar to the ideas discussed in this thread.

1.6 will certainly be telling... but not as much as 12 months from now, when we hit the typical 2 year development cycle (give or take) that we see from Akai.

But IMO, the whole series needs a fresh breath. IMO, I just can't get past calling a piece of software and a controller an MPC. I get it though - evolution... but to me it's just an MPD on steroids.

I said it before and I'll say it again - bring a new flagship to market - a hybrid / 4000xl, move the Ren to mid-tier, and studio to entry-level. Stop spending time on everything else. My .02.

I don't think this 'everyone' really knows what they want.

They want a hardware/hybrid MPC.

They like saying that, because software is bad, and there is anti-software hype they have to jump on.

Do they really know what that means, what exactly they want it to do, how exactly they want this hybrid component of this new hardware MPC to operate and function, how it is going to function when standalone and when connected, etc.?

Can't you turn the computer screen off, and use the Renaissance screen, or are there still too many functions that require the computer screen?

If you could do everything on the Renaissance screen, would this still be an issue for you?

It was the fact that Maschine is more "standalone" friendly that caused me to be on the fence between the two for over a year. After start up, I could go over an hour sometimes without using the mouse or screen. Heck, the Macbook would shut the screen off and I wouldn't even realize it.

Not so with Ren/Studio. I find I have to go to the mouse/Screen way to much for my taste. But even so, for me the Ren/Studio won. The MPC just fits me better.....

I do hope for a more hardware centered on in the future. I still want the computers power and storage, but not the mouse and screen....

You can work on the ren and not look at the Mac book but after a while when the screen shuts down for a long time you get "stopped communicating with computer" ....salty!

I think firstly the software needs re-designing… its far too complicated…

Secondly… trying to operate the software from the screens is a joke.

Have you tried putting an effect on a track from the hardware… wow!!!

So… with the software re-design also needs to come better OLED screens on the hardware.

Its time to ditch the greys and reds and go for a minimal black and white flat design.

Although the MPC workflow is unbeaten i don't feel inspired looking at the thing… both hardware and software…

Its 2013… not 1993.

SimonInAustralia wrote:How is this any different to an MPC4000, doesn't it already do all of the above?

I dont know as i haven't used/owned a 4000 before...

Is every function button (ie cursor keys .. bank keys .... ) customisable to what you want?

As i understand the 4000 doesn't use audio or midi over usb ? just file transfer or does it ? but i dont know because i've never used one?

nice idea..

LZ Roberts wrote:You know y'all want one of these

I like this idea too.. Using ipad to give more visual and touch feedback to control the mpc..

You can prevent screen sleep and hibernation when lid shuts with this app.. Mite help...

I know Akai wont do any of this shit.. but the op is about what you'd like to see in a new mpc.. Not what you think akai will deliver next.
