Same here. I get so frustrated with those tiny triangles...damn!
Push 2 looks pretty cool if you like ableton. Hope Propellerheads did a controller like that. But I don't think so.
Anyway I see some of you here riding the hype with this new push.
I have to say that I chose the MPC over others BECAUSE the workflow. And I like some of the lacks of it too. I mean MPC in general not the software specifically. The way of doing things. It is inspiring for me.

Propellerhead will never get their shit together. I'm tired of waiting for them. I installed the 30 day demo of Live last night and it handled everything better than Reason without chocking up my CPU. I still got a lot of catching up to do before I decide to buy Live. But so far, I'm happy with it.

For those on that 30 day trial don't forget to twiddle with the new filter modelling. Try the LPF and enjoy.

The new filters simulate the filters from the synthesizers:-

Clean = Linear SVF used in EQ8
MS2 = Korg MS-20
PRD = Moog Prodigy
OSCR = OSCR filter
SMP = Hybrid based on a few filters.

Thanks for the info. Definitely gotta check it out.

I plugged the ren back up and the workflow is just super fast where as i was getting frustrated with ableton to do simple things. I know the Ren doesnt have real time warping but i can honestly live without that. Something about the Ren soundcard that just makes everything BANG HARD. I was using my RME UCX interface with the ableton demo and it was too clean sounding compared to the ren. I love my RME but i honestly think ableton does have its own sound which made it sound like that. Anyways, I need to make up for all the lost time i spent on ableton videos and actually using the program and make about 5 beats before i go to bed tonight LOL.

So, what were the hurdles which made you go back to the MPC?

Simple things like setting bar lengths, recording clips can get annoying, the timing was WAY off and the quantize settings were not sounding right. It would take me over 10 minutes to make a simple beat whereas the Ren took me 1 minute or less. Im sure the push 2 woulda shortened that workflow and the sound of the Ren was way bigger and fuller and thats something that i cant give up. I was really on the ableton train and was gonna make that move but i think I was moving too fast and getting caught in the hype. Ableton is cool but i dont think its my time yet. One thing i did like is the different track lengths! Thats something ive always wanted and i think its in 1.9

One rumour I'd love to see stop flying is the "Ableton Live sounds weaker than other DAWs" one. That's an old one and probably has its roots in people unintentionally misusing its (default) warping mode that has degraded the sound.

No modern DAW has "a sound". You could probably do a test and run a sound thru them all and they'd null.

I've mastered somewhere around 400 tunes this year, all run thru Ableton Live (not using its stock plugs though because for many workflow etc reasons i like many 3rd party plugins better), and all I can say they sound loud, fat, and clear, and haven't received one complaint about a weak sound.

I was starting to get really frustrated myself and for the simplest things. Making music should not frustrate anyone. Ableton is for a certain type of musician! Im mos def not in that category. I tried to get into ableton so many times since version 6 and the latest 9.5 (i was SO close to buying a push 2 yesterday) but i just cant do it

Am i overlooking something or its definitely not possible to add manually slice point in the new simpler? :Sigh:

Also in slice mode the start and end sample seems not working... :hmmm:

My ideal workflow is:

1 loading drum rack

2 loading sample

3 find start and end point

4 duplicate pad

5 find start/end point new pad

6 copy pad again, etc...

at the moment i cant get that with 9.5 and push1

I can agree with you to certain point. But I like reason for what it is. If I need other features some time I have reaper.Not a power user but I can get around with it.
Live as said it is not for me. I don't like the GUI. And I don't need a daw to have clips. I get the full concept and I know why it is great for some people.

Not with the push 1, an update is coming for it.

The pad copy workflow you can do now with push 1, check this video

IT DOES and without any warping! Iv ebeen making music over 10 years and ive trained my ears pretty dam good. Make the same exact beat with ableton and the REN and you tell me which sounds better. I think ableton is great but for sound i will stick to my MPC and analog outboard gear. Do you use outboard gear for your mastering???

No, I do all mastering in the box: http://fanumusic.com/about-mastering/
Relying a whole lot on my Audeze LCD-2 headphones...and my treated room.

I dunno man, I've been making music for maybe 23 years (recently even had my ears cleaned for maximum fidelity) and Live still sound amazing to me and I'm making fat **** with it...just don't get the people who say they can't make it sound good...as always, it's about the person using it, not the tools.

Welcome to the team 8) . My push 2 will be delivered tomorrow. The new simpler with push v1 is already a fluid workflow. This is a dream come true. Listen to records, like that little piece and slice. It's a quick and dirty way of getting ideas out. I mean I will still use audition and melodyne editor to refine the sample, but now it's the ability to say is this loop worth flipping?

How much time have you spent flipping a loop then later on nothing comes into fruition?

Would like to know how push 2 is working for you. I almost bought it 2 days ago but held back. Part of me still wants it tho lol

I was running into the same situation with push 1, not being able to use Simpler Device completely.. It seems that all your questions that push 1 users are looking for regarding simpler is available with Push 2.. The rumor is that they are suppose to have an update coming to address this for push 1 users. Hope it is ASAP!
