When you think about it, the mouse is USB and the REN is USB, the wireless radio frequency from the mouse interfere with the stability of the REM. Give it a try . Sorry I'm late with the fix but I just got the REN.

It‘s not the wireless radio frequency of the mouse, but the interrupt handling of the machine.
Since Windows distributes interrupts (more or less by chance), your first attempt simply hit a sweet spot and the problem was solved.
The problem returned because interrupt handling may be reconfigured any time Win considers appropriate
(plug in whatever USB device, change disks, install/uninstall a driver, there are thousands of possibilities)

Makes sense to me but no issues for months on end and hours at a time????? However, the issue did show back up.

i am working on another possible fix as i type . since you say that the issue is not a wireless mouse, i will add testing with a wireless mouse and report back. So right now i am having some success with a wired mouse. Again, i am still testing and it seems to be working nicely. 2
plus hrs with no issues and on multiple days .

Still at it. I'm making progress as in i had a breakthrough for about 2.5 hours after I had a slight noise. I didn't have more noise, I just finished my session on the REN and Dell Laptop.
So, earlier, I went back and re-read the whole forum thread again and a few things stood out. The first being that there are" 2" frequencies selection parameters and only 1 is being address, sort of.

1. Frequency of the laptop setting (driver)
2. Frequency of the REN/MPC software.

It was suggested that windows should not use the Ren drivers for audio. I took a look and this is not possible for the Laptop I am using as the REN driver is used for audio when the REN is connected. I also noticed on my Ren Driver in windows that I could select various frequencies from the 16bit 44k to 96k range and 24bit 44k to 96k range. I played around with these parameters after i got the noise from a sample that I was extracting. I changed the windows laptop setting to 16bit 96k. I then went to the MPC software and selected the 16bit 44k parameter and the sample that I was editing did not make the high frequency noise again. I then proceeded to use the REM for at least 2.5 hours without an issue,

This is just more trial and error testing and i don't want to celebrate too soon.

Also let it be known that i have two USB 3.0 ports and one 2.0 port. I am plugged into the 2.0 port.

I also plug the wired and/or wireless mouse dongle into the USB port on the REN and not the laptop.

I will also test with the Mouses plugged into the computer,

i don't think that this makes a difference, I am just trying to get pass the noise issue.


Again, i am still testing and i will keep this thread updated in the days to come.

Hey there. I use the Mpc Renaissance with a Macbook Pro exclusively .
My Main Mac is a silicon Mac (M1) and of course will not work ... so far ...
I had to reinstall the MPC Studio Software and suddenly had the same Problem of Noise Crackling.
Changed everything that was suggested in the Forum. ( Sample Rate etc.....) Nothing helped.
The solution was : Going back to MPC Studio Version 2.12.55 - Now everything works absolutely stable and fluently ... ( ah.. of course the Macbook is running Mojave - the last one supporting the Audio functionality... )

Running my Ren connected into an externally powered USB hub corrected the sound crackles and pops as well as resolved the random system freezing.
