Essentials is a lighter version of the MPC Software. One is designed to work on multiple DAW tracks and one isn't.

yea, I would need essential software to run 16 instances of it for sure, Jah how many tracks have you tried at once of essentials? whats the cpu load like?

Here's the thing...the MPC software is a DAW...and the Element is being marketed as a virtual instrument that is, to paraphrase your (and AKAIs) own words, geared towards DAW users.

But here is the thing...Ren/Studio owners are begging for virtual outs...and...you...err akai..are offering a proprietary controller that is only fully functional with the software...and of course the software is not useable without the dongle.

And at the end of the day, akais plugin refuses fundamental functionality from a plugin for DAW users.

You don't see the fail in that?

Put it this way.....pump your breaks and wait to see what the Element/Essentials and the next MPC Software update is before you speculate any further.

Almost every update there has been surprises. This one is no different...and even more so as I read forum feedback and they type of features and workflow improvements many here want (users/non users alike).

That's fair enough...but I think something needs to be said for the logistics of how these features get rolled out. That's all.

I'd say 90% of that list has to make the cut or it will be nothing short of a failure...

I agree that it will be a failure at pleasing everybody.

1,2,3 & 5 are musts...I'd say 4 too unless you think most Ren users have no issues buying an Element in portable situations....provided the full software becomes available for the Element...

I think all of them are nice to have. It may not sit well with everyone today that say they want a 'forward thinking' product, but MPCs have never been all-in-one solutions. In fact, there are no all-in-one solutions that does everything you and others here expect.

That would mean in your eyes, every product available on the market is a failure since they don't have these 'musts'?

Aren't most of the features on that list available in Maschine? nothing revolutionary either..pretty standard stuff for 2013..

MPCs were never meant to be all in one, however they do stand for Midi/Music Production Center, it is supposed to be your studio hub.. now today the computer/DAW is your hub/center but many people still view the MPC concept as a complete beatmaking system.. not just a lil plugin with a fancy controller.. people expect legacy features to be upheld but also complete flexible DAW integration and workflow.. no this isn't an easy transition, especially for a hardware company but it is the challenge ahead and all those requests are 100% valid..

#4 is probably the toughest but needs to be addressed as well, the current ball & chain situation doesn't make much sense.. they need to partner up with a dongle maker or something..

All of those features are available in Maschine except multicore support, IIRC.

I think we were all interested in what the 'lighter than air', 'crashes like waves', 'drops like a stone' marketing hype would reveal. What a disappointment.
