Enjoy yourself and take it easy. Wow midnight now!

I own 5 hardware samplers, and several more software samplers. There has yet to be any company that completely nailed what I would like to see is a Sample Record Mode. So using all my samplers as inspiration, here are the features I would like to see implemented in the Ren:

If you read that and can't clearly see that I am talking what I want and not what the Ren has or hasn't....you will not understand the Ren's manual. So it looks like I will create threads with photo's and video's instead.

You know I can name several forum members that could have already have the Ren. But I won't.

As said before these useless threads are about getting credit for what shows up in the final product and positioning yourself to stay relevant after the controller is released. At that point you'll point "My feature thread" , "My request thread' ,and 'My bug thread" You did the exact same thing when the 5000 was coming out. We've seen this movie before and it pretty bad the first time around. :|

well...

I have it. I understand it just fine. It's intent is very clear. I'm sure you will create whatever thread makes you happy, and that's cool.

In the end, I'm not here to convince you of anything, so if you feel like you wrote your post perfectly correct and everyone should understand it or they won't understand a user's manual, hey, you're entitled to that viewpoint.

But from my own experience, if you want to have meaningful discussions with people, belittling them, doesn't help. To each his own though.

Unfortuantely, meaningful discussions in this forum rarely happen. And it usually starts with something like what is happening here. I simply wrote what I would like to see in a specific mode..and instead of you and others indicating what you would like to see and why (aka meaniful discussion), you prefer to talk about why the thread exists or give tips on how I should write a thread. This is completely off topic and results in individuals feeling belittled.

The Ren is not released. They only thing you can really write in this forum is how much you hate/dislike a product (what many forum members do) or you can simply write about how you plan to use the Ren and features and functions you would like to see implemented. I prefer the latter.

If you are interested in the Ren and there is something that you find missing in another sampler that you would like to see implemented in the Ren.....feel free to contribute.

Jah why don't you describe what your unit can do now then what extra you would like.

That way everybody's on the same page. Since you already shown and stated you have a unit you are no longer beholden to the agreement.

If one of the developers were here he would state the current state of the unit.

I can ask you a natural question cant the unit already do many of the sample editing you desired? If not which one it cannot do?

wow.

As a relatively new guy to this forum, now I see why they talk to you the way they do. I'll admit, I didn't see it before. The way you just twisted what happened, thats a serious gift man. Props. I won't go back and forth with you though. I've said what I wanted to say.

I'll contribute what I'd like to, and I'll bet You will do the same.

Basically meaning focusing on my wants/needs instead of your own...

Blue Haze wrote:Jah why don't you describe what your unit can do now then what extra you would like.

I already described everything under the sun...every function that I believe would be useful in the Ren. Indicating what it has now specifically is not appropriate since it isn't commerically available.

So it seems some folks are more concerned about what I want instead of their own personal needs. You make me feel special.

Yeah, special needs.

So other than this being yet another vanity thread of yours, how do you even expect people to make a legitimate contribution when the ren isn't out, there's no manual and no release date... and the rather cryptic "yet to be announced features" that you keep harping on about?

8. Insert FXs. This is a must have feature for me. I would like to be able to Insert FXs (up to 4 of them) directly into the path of an incoming audio signal. This should include 3rd party effects. I would love to be able to run audio through a Neve plugin and sample it.

This would really be a great feature. I can already accomplish this somewhat as I have an Apollo interface that let's me track/record through plugins. Sso if Apollo is my selected default Ren audio interface, I can connect audio devices to the Apollo's inputs and insert effects to be recorded in the Ren. But this involves an extra set as I have to make the effect settings on the Apollo's mixer.

Having this capability within the Ren's Record Mode would be nice. Simply ass a Quick FX F key and allow users to Insert 4 or more effects into the path of incoming audio. This is much better, IMHO, than sampling, assigning the sample to a pad, insert effects, and the resample the pad....too many steps.

This is because you're not a producer and don't think like one. Destructive effects should always be secondary to track insert effects.

Anyway Mods, how long are you going to let this clown play the forum and treat it like his own personal blog? :-|

The MPC 4000 is the best MPC at doing this specific function. It allows you to do exactly what I am describing. The MV and Fantom G does exactly what I am describing as does the Korg Kronos. All of the features I described here are possible with one or more products I own. There is a good reason why these samplers have this deeper integration of applying effects.

Maschine is one of the samplers I own that can't perform this way.

I believe that Ren can do what most of what was shown in the videos. Any extra would be gravy. But at this stage of the game most of us interested are just waiting for it to be released in October. If a progress report was being given weekly that would be very helpful. So to however is listening let us know what is going on!

You can do this in Maschine! All you have to do is set one pad to record the original source and insert the plugin on that pad, which will basically be used as an auxiliary and won't be doing any actual recording. Then output that pad to the input of another pad to actually sample the audio on. I personally don't like recording effects into the audio. But it can be done!

I believe you are the one that turned me onto this before. But that is equally annoying as resampling on the previously mentioned other products.

I understand everyone has a different workflow. But for me, I like to have audio going into the sampler and applying certain effects/dynamics at the source. Then I can save my newly enhanced sounds as dedicated drum kits to archive and/or share. Having this Quick FX function within Sample Record Mode is a workflow enhancer. Most of the F keys in Sample Record Mode is left undesignated in the latest MPCs. This is mos def an opportunity for improvement.
