True, but you also have to consider that for a lot of people, the Ren could be their first piece of gear, or first piece of software. It's not just as that are potential buyers. So for people that have nothing, or an MPC only, this will be a huge upgrade for them, as far as DAW's are concerned. As a mixer, it's gonna be vastly superior to having just an MPC.

Sounds to me like #1 feature request...we need audio tracks like the MPC 5000 :D

But until that day, you can still record (sample) any audio file you want and insert it into the sequencer. At a minimum, the MPC 5000s direct recording and continuous sample tracks are needed. I would like to see it at least match the MPC 5000 and everything else is gravy. I see this as MPC 5000 OS3.

How can it even be a feature request though if you don't even know whether it's included or not yet?

Akai Pro on FB already said yes to my question whether there would be audio tracks in the MPC-R software. It'll be like a mini DAW in development I guess.

I hope that is the case...but Akai's website clearly says 3 types of tracks (MIDI, MPC, VST)...no mention of audio tracks. It seems like audio tracks feature would have been highlighted....

personally, I would love akai to turn the virtual mpc software into a DAW of sorts. Audio tracks, automation, stability, power, flexible as fck midi capabilities, , etc. even if you would call it a slimmed down DAW, but had alot of the capabilities of full fledged DAWs, i think it would be sweet.

A DAW with mpc state of mind - mpc sequencer first.

I said it a long ass time ago when i owned an Akai DPS 16, if they combined the DPS and MPC it would be supreme!

and why not? reason did it? instead of making the mpc easier to integrate with a DAW, just make it the fckn DAW!

True, they didn't highlight it. I can only report what the Akai representative on FB told me. Maybe the implementation wasn't finished when they wrote the feature paper, maybe they don't want to spill the beans too early, maybe the guy on FB talked BS.
But since it's audio software on a computer such a feature could be expected IMHO.

Yup. That's the impression I got as well.

I swear you are in my head sometimes, Coz ( or is it a case of 'great minds thinking alike ? ).

Great minds.....

What have you see in the MPC Ren's screen shots to make you believe the layout of the controller would be inadequate for the software?
