I'm serious. All these guys DEMANDING new Ren owners take time to put something together for them so they can make their mind up on whether they'll cop it or not. A] surely you're not basing your purchase on 1 feature? and B] they've JUST got it, they wanna play with it and get comfortable themselves before they cater to your demands. and C] they can't go out and get a Ren tomorrow if the Vintage Mode is as they expect so what's the rush?

Can't wait to see some beat videos!

A little dramatic Nobody's DEMANDING anything. This is a FORUM of people who are interested in the same thing. MPCs..so when a new MPC FINALLY comes out, that was announced in January to have the "mpc 3000 circuitry" on the main outs, we all are excited to hear what it sounds like. I would think this would be one of the first things I would test. At least just out of curiosity to see what it sounds like. People were just asking the OP, who started the thread "Who's got questions?", what he thought about the vintage mode and to post wav examples. In a forum this is a reasonable thing to ask somebody when they have a brand new piece of gear that few people have, who's selling point was the "circuitry of the 3000"..simple

I'd like to see software screenshots with their hardware counterparts i.e. How stuff looks on the controller compared to the computer.

Ok I did a conversion check:

Hey...I checked it out and they are getting a $200 break on the REN! The Studio is spot on. This may just be a discount on the REN from an online site. If you look at RunningonE's pics he had a discount as well, he also paid 11...something (I think more that 1108.00 though).

Even better than that if you are a VAT registered business in the UK, because you can claim 20% VAT back, so it would only be around £580, which is around $900.

Thing is though, we tend to get screwed on most electronic goods in the UK, Apple products tend to be massively overpriced compared to the US, as are a lot of software products i.e. Adobe, Steinberg etc.

Agreed......Most things are overpriced in the UK!....The Ren don't seem a bad price here for £699......I'll be getting one :)

I wasn't gonna get one but if i can claim back the VAT then i'm more than happy to grab one and see if it's good/rubbish. How would i go about getting one with no VAT, when i bought software before the site asked me to input my VAT number, would it be the same if i bought a REN online??

I still think it's a glorified souncard/midi controller but using this with my 4000 jacked into it might make tracking out easier and compliment my 'REAL' MPC

@eldorado

If the jackass couldn't comprehend that, it just shows who the real idiot is. Got Some ass clowns in the Ren forum. :fku:

Let me see how many more days go by without someone posting up some audio samples or a **** manual.

Like most people i wanna hear the vintage mood and about the sound banks.Im sure there are alot of features that Akai hasn't spoke of yet we just gonna wait and see when the Ren is offically released.

This is a question granted and definitely not an unreasonable one

Zip all 3 WAV files and upload it to mediafire.

Not sure about anyone else but when I read this thread, these posts came across as DEMANDING of the OP.

He had the fcking thing less than a day. And my initial point still stands: if you hear what you're asking for right now and decide, 'holy shit that's exactly what I wanted! I'm buying one' you still have to wait a couple of weeks for them to become available to those who haven't pre-ordered. Therefore... hold your **** horses :fku:

Paradigm change there are two sides to an issue. People are not basing a purchase off one person's review. Many people have watched tens of video, read hundreds of articles, ask hundred of questions and some even tested or knew people that did test a few unit over the past 8 months that had already decided that they were going to buy the unit. At the same time thousands of posts were made stating skepticism that they would ever work even though the alot official videos were shown with the units being able to make music.

So in essence to get affirmation on intended purchase people are inquiring a fellow regular guy buyer nonconnected to Akai to give a first hand look at the unit from their eyes and ears. Nothing wrong with that. It isn't that they are deciding to buy or not from this very week that the original poster picked it up.

From each new purchasers post it looks positive overall. Since they were all pre order many will definitively be satisfied when the official released this week happens and they can work with a display model or check out their friends.

My two cents I do have one yet but it would take that much time to get made a beat an mpc is an mpc jpeg already made one Ren skippy. It would take manual reading and a little time to go through every feature though.

If I had recieved a Ren already my priorities would be something like:

In no particular order...

1. Get to know the controller/ interface and software.
2. Test as a standalone software application and as a plug-in.
3. Become familiar with aspects unavailable in my hardware MPC.
4. Check that all advertised features are present and working.
5. Optimise my computer to acheive optimal performance.
6. Make a couple of simple test beats.
7. Load a couple of legacy MPC programs and songs.
8. Play with the setup for a few days, in peace.
9. Check the forums and elsewhere online for emerging news, tips, tricks.

Posting up audio clips and answering other people's questions is not something I'd consider as any type of priority, that type of stuff should probably have been done by the manufacturer.

Familiarising myself would take a good few days, maybe even a week or so. Remember some folk have jobs and other responsibilities, and aren't sitting on their arses all day thinking about making beats...

You simply cannot review a new product within two days of recieving it, unless you are an experienced user with that sole purpose in mind.

Im sure a set of in-depth reviews and tutorials will soon be posted on YouTube, I look forward to seeing these just as much as you guys do.

As a legacy MPC owner, vintage mode or whatever its called carries no attraction for me whatsoever. If you really gonna spend that much cash based on the strength of vintage mode, you may as well buy the damn vintage machine and have the real deal.

As others have said, its early days for the Ren, all will be revealed in due course. But if you can't wait for answers, buy the damn thing and then you can provide the answers instead of asking for them all the time...instant gratification.

1. Slices are adding via threshold (Recycle style), Regions (equal sized regions), or BPM (Bar, Beat, Time division). You can't insert/delete slice markers by clicking on the waveform. (* I would love to see this added by the way.) Slices can overlap when you turn off link slices (similar to nondestructive chop). You can also chop a sample and when creating a program choose to not 'crop' the samples. This is also a form of nondestructive chopping as the sample is chopped across all the pads but only the start/end points are changed...no destructive editing is done to the samples.

2. Vintage Mode. When I receive my new Ren, I would be happy to post audio samples.

3. External controllers. You can use external MIDI controllers (keyboard, drum pad, etc). These controllers can be used to play the Ren's programs and VSTs.

4. Track, program, pad relationship. You can choose the track instrument type (Drum Program, Keygroup Program, MIDI, or VST instrument). The pads are used to play and record into the sequencer. Since only one instrument can be assigned per track, you can't have a VST on one pad and a sample on another pad.

5. Automation. Incorporated throughout the software. You can use the Qlinks to record automation or draw automation with the pencil tool. Recordable pad and track mutes are also possible.

6. Manuals. They are copyrighted. Not sure if you can post links to copyrighted material if Akai hasn't done it themselves. Mods?

Funny thing is that I would do the same and you guys wouldn't even know I had one. But on the other hand if I post up that I had a unit and I was willing to answer questions for those that haven't recieve their units or in my case I got another month before they even ship over here I would do what I can.

Anyways he isn't the only buyer and as the other buyers receive their units more and more affirmations will come on board the forums.

Chief thing is after months of waiting for a final working unit to hit the market the real buyers can honestly have a true experience on what they can do with it.

An mpc is an mpc it isn't too difficult to operate as that is the design behind it.

This is cool but I think if you or the posted could post a video of you working or going through the process would be a lot more in depth just like the soundsforsampler guy did?
