Akai needs to re-evaluate how they share information to their customers. In today's day and age social media makes it simple to share information with your customers. Is it really that difficult to keep your customers informed as to the current progress of OS 1.7 update via Akai Pro website or the multiple social network outlets they use? The longer you keep your customers in the dark it hurts your brand. Customers lose trust in the brand and exercise their options with other companies.

As we all have been following software houses for a while, I guess we can all pretty much agree that
1) while it's not always clever to give out fixed release dates too soon (many things can happen, and Akai as well as Slate Digital seem to have caught some sh*t for doing it when delays happen), it's definitely good to
2) let people know what you're actually working on. It keeps your fanbase hungry and excited. Don't be secretive – imho, you come off a little douchey if you tease them for too long.

One way of handling your updates is to be completely silent until two weeks (or so) from the release date and then let it all out in public, of course. This creates a huge impact. But IF you let your fans know you're working on something and it starts to take a while, it creates a friendly vibe if you're keeping them updated instead of just going for "We'll let you know when we have something".

iMPC Pro videos by Retronyms is a perfect example. They have an update video every week on a feature they are working on.

nukai can fail to deliver over and over again and still trust that they'll have a legion of devotees who will make silly excuses...

The tabs menu has words instead of icons which tells me it's before 1.6. Do you see something different?
