I HAVE OVER 100 BEATS IN THE REN....... I will have to use both because im just now realizing the OTHER COMPANY mixed and mastered demos that play like the radio AND LEFT THE TOOLS THEY USED SO I CAN LEARN OR FINISH but I find us crying over a non existent AKAI PRO (NOT 3RD PARTY) SIDE-CHAINING COMPRESSOR + AKAI PRO(for the speed of the threshold) TRANSPARENT LIMITER.

Im not an engineer and this mpc ren is the mpc5000.......the box needs a protools hd rig!

not THIS tho. Image

Hope I saved a real AKAI MPC4000 aksys DPS24 wisher......stop waiting.

THIS WHAT THE NEXT AKAI FREE UPGRADE FOR DAY ONE OWNERS SHOULD BE.

In extenso MPC means Music Production Center. The logic and future of it, is what the Renaissance is trying to become: a full fledged DAW.

Which is excellent for the majority who use the MPC as the centerpiece of their music production. But for the (apparently) minority who have a DAW centered production system trying to use their Renaissance as a plugin / instrument amongst others, this is not so great. Let me explain:

One of the big selling point for the Renaissance was "Open the MPC as a plugin and use it inside your DAW while having the Renaissance hardware as a controller". Best of both worlds.

Which means if you are DAW centered: Great, finally we have an MPC with wonderful ergonomic, with all its classic features: pads, note repeat, sampling, sample edit, etc, that we can fully integrate inside our DAW!

Let's play this hardware to record midi notes inside DAW's midi track while we hear MPC sounds, to therefore edit this midi recording inside the DAW as we usually do from any controller.

And that my friend, is not easy to obtain.

Updates after updates except for 1.5 bringing Midi Control Mode (which needs to be improved and clarified in the manual), this way of using the Ren has been left on the side to privilege the Ren becoming its own DAW.

That's why I pray Akai not to forget us.

Im on this AMAZING sounding Maschine 2.3..... But no tranpose PER GROUP (Shift+Tune then use the knob). Matter a fact no transpose at all. Just super easy to edit midi data from the controller tho.

Look at Akai.... "You want me to change the tune of the whole song (a keyboard beat)?....No Problem........Turn the wheel to +2 or +3........Nice!!!"

I love my MPC vers 1.8 workflow I just need an internal limiter like maschine. That Softube Console 1 internal muscle must be inside that NI partnership Deal!

What is A.I.R. here for?
Akai got history..

I want to be able to open my Mpc 4000 projects in the Ren. The Ren took a lot of 4000/5000 features but it does'nt open 4000 projects :(

We need to also be able to save our plugin chains as well. :hmmm:

here is a quote from "http://blog.zzounds.com/2015/10/07/interview-inside-the-akai-mpc-touch/"

"zZ: So you’re releasing MPC 1.9 software with the Touch?

Pete: This release will be called version 1.9 because of this entirely new way of interacting with the MPC. There’s a whole load of major features added that the Touch UI uses — but that existing customers [running MPC Renaissance or MPC Studio] can use too: independent track lengths, individual insert bypass, massively improved master mixer section, pad color control, continuous loop sample addition — a whole load of stuff.

So it’s not just that we’ve taken the existing MPC, and slapped a touch UI on it — there’s a load of extra new features in here as well. And development has not stopped here…There’s a whole road map of very strong stuff that’s coming later down the line, which if we told you about now, we’d have to kill you…so stay tuned."

.......Not really excited about this MPC TOUCH at all.... BUT....with the creation of these new "TOYS" that use the same software as the REN it gives Akai reason to keep implementing new software updates as sales might increase from the new users. MAYBE :|

independent track lengths sounds interesting.

This touch thing appeals to me like sticking red chillies in my eyes. I believe in buttons over touchscreen for tweaking music.. A part of me is worried that 1.9 will be biased towards running the touch perfectly and compromise on the ren experience. I hope i am wrong. Either way i do love the current version of software and would be happy to keep my rren on it forever. I better by another spare ren before it all goes touchscreen. Not impressed by the NI look either. Bah.....
