I had this account back in my tech support days, actually. I used to comeo n here now and again, and I would read the forums on occasion, but I will say, so far this has been my most positive experience on here yet, so thanks for that, gang. :)

That was when the 500, 1000 and 2500 was released. Those users have no manners

im surprised you say this lamp...given youve been here so long.....they were around too for the mpc4k....some lad called sean i think, also scd....the paris bloke was posting stuff for the mpc2500....as i have already mentioned....they seem to appear when new products come out....but they disappear when bugs are present and users are unhappy after having spent their earned money...they havent been listening at all to the mpc5k or mpc500 listeners have they....
so bear that in mind too... :D

where are the members of the mpc5k developers team in here..... the standalone crew is noticeably absent.....have also been absent for their os..when jj came to save the day....

their CURRENT standalone models are not a priority for them right now (due to limited resources), so one could read from this... their CURRENT users are not a priority......c'mon son

anyways...going forward....cos we cant live in the past...best of luck doing what youre doing xparis001...i hope you achieve what you set out to do....

edit....ps thinking about it...theyre here to generate interest, give the appearance as if they care, and get ideas to help them make their new products a success.....so id be very surprised if they leave cos someone is rude to them....

It's not planned in the initial release, since that's what the mpc controller is for.

Do you have any plans to integrate the 5000 with the upcoming Renaissance software where the 5000 could be used as an advanced controller? We know that we'll be able to trigger pads but what about sample editing, importing through USB, and q-link mapping?

that'd be awesome, but I'm not sure if it's technically possible through USB. maybe midi, and that would probably delay the firmware even further. I'd rather get the bug fixes out of the way on the 5000 before diving in to something like that.

Also, one thing to note, is renaissance and studio can both export a project as MPC5000, so you could export everything, throw it on a CF card or the 5k hard drive and take the project with you, should you want to. it also exports as 500/2500/1000.

Paris,

This is off topic, but I wanted to know... what do you think about the MPC mixtape series? (if you've heard of it)

Just because members don't post much doesn't mean they aren't here or haven't been here looking in. We've all seen some of the negativity that happened back when 1k/2500 released, lol. I wouldn't have posted up either if I were certain people. This time around things are happening differently, several questions and answers are now being traded and spoken on and that's great. It's a good thing.

I understand users are sometimes jaded about stuff but me myself, I won't join the "dislike something about something" club.

I'm not into politics but I try to keep an open mind.

Just curious, but why wouldn't it be possible through USB? Isn't that how the REN and Studio will perform those functions. Seems to me like the only requirement would be a proper driver for the operating system (OSX or Windows). I think it is more of a marketing limitation than technical. I've seen a lot of MPC 5000s selling for about the same as the projected price of the Ren.

I believe the usb port on the 5k is only "wired" to the card reader and drive... not the system itself.

sort of like how you can plug your digital camera into your computer... but you cant control photoshop with it.

I believe it has to do with whether the usb connection is wired for data transfer as opposed to host and system communications. There are different specifications for different intentions in the design. As mr_debauch says this one is only set up for data transfer (I believe)...

USB ports are fairly standard and programmable. It should be possible to program them to send and receive midi messages. If not then the regular midi ports could be used to allow the self contained MPCs to double as midi controllers. It would be a win-win IMHO.Akai would win back some lost momentum, existing customers would see that they are once again relevant. They would also have sort of a unified software platform to build upon and develop into the future.
