My guess, is that as part of his sponsorship, he's required to produce a certain amount of promotional media for Akai. So some product guy at Akai, who knows nothing about Araab other than that he's popular, arranges for Araab to come into their offices to check out the new device. When Araab arrives he's met by Nancy from finance, Roger the PR guy from Harvard (who subtly let's it be known that this is just a temporary gig) and the VP of US Sales who keeps saying, "Make a phat beat Mr. Muzik" while trying to sound cool.
Meanwhile Araab, who can't get the song Pimpin' Ain't Easy out of his head, is reconsidering this whole "sponsorship for the man strategy" that his manager has been promoting. So he lays down a few unenthusiastic beats to satisfy his contract.
Menco is right though, they should have ****' sent it to his home with a camera and told him to send it back. They'd likely have to throw most of the footage away, but they might be able to get some really energetic, enthusiastic footage.
Sometimes I still laugh out loud about the beat kangz and that time some English dude hacked the Akai marketing website and stole a bunch of pictures of the Ren before it was released.
