why don't you make it as an option to be able to use the CPU power from another mpc:p (as you can see im starving to see the pc out of the equation, im just so sad to realize that mpcs -and hardware samplers- as we know them are dead.)

or why don't u put it a cpu in there from the beggining. will it be that expensiver anyway?

I think it's a real headache to put a cpu in there, you have to buy alot of them to get the price down and they get discontinued after a while and you'll have to chase for a replacement. I used to work at an electronic manufacturer and i know how hard it can be. And since most ppl will use it with the computer anyway its not worth it, even though they might want to.

But, nowdays with the smartphones it shouldnt be that much of a problem to release the ipad also to the iphone. And eventually to android (although that would require alot more coding i guess.

An mpc Ren/Studio with an iphone attached is pretty close to standalone, and would be quite dope!

because just like protools and other companies .. they have this attitude like . its are way . we know what were doing and you ether like it or not .. just like a pretty girl who thinks she gods gift to the world .. what what happens when she starts getting old and ugly like the mpc ren :D and other girls start coming around like ni maschine and beat thang lol . now they wana act so nice again ahahah .. but on a real note .. its more than ever easy to get parts and do whats needed .. look @ the i phone .. its called greed .. feed you a lil this and a lil that and you will keep come back ?? .. 8)

every mpc has the same exact components as every pc ever released.. mother board, ram, cpu, input device (keyboard or button/pads), output device (screen or display, or indicator lights), sound card, power supply, etc... it would require more than a cpu (central processing unit) to function without a PC... it would need all the other parts as well... and not to forget software to run it all.

the thing that akai did here with the ren, is they found a way to charge over 1000 dollars for a midi controller without needing to include weighted keys or motorized faders...

oh, well my guess is that it's the same reason they didn't make the mpd, mpk, lpd, and apc type products as standalone units... in other words... they felt like making a computer peripheral, not a computer.

What I don't get is why do you want a new MPC? It's obvious you don't prefer the advantages of a computer workflow and would rather stick to hardware. So why not continue using your current MPC? All the MPC's from the 4000 and up can do everything the Ren will be able to do minus the computer workflow. What exactly are you looking for?

Apple is often like that, I agree. However, with these new MPC's, Akai isn't forcing people towards computers. It's the people that are forcing Akai towards computers. It's just what the majority of people prefer now.

Akai's been serving the hardware heads since 1988. Now they make one stinking MPC for software heads and the hardware cats think it's unfair, like they got jipped!

That word has long been used in America also.

This is what HF meant.

yeah for sure.. hahaha.. I just find it sort of funny having experienced first hand where the negativity comes from...

I usually say "gypt". I had a feeling it was derived from gypsies, they are some slick hustlers.

dude, in some parts of europe, people still used horse to do farm work up until 15-20 years ago.. meaning, they didn't get into tractors yet at that point... you would have to watch out when leaving it out front of the store as you bought stuff, because sometimes when you got back... their tails (horse hair) would be cut off. Now that doesn't sound like much of a problem right? Except... a horse's tail is one of it's only defenses to swat off flies... without them.. the horse can go mad and often must be put down. That can be devastating to a farming family who requires the animal to work their land.

That is just an example.. haha, where someone really could have gotten gypped. (this was not uncommon in my family's town.. though those "gypsies" were not your traditional caravan style ones.. they were actually settled permanently)
