Combine my asr-10 with (first mpc ever) MPC-R?

Hello MPC-Forums, newcomer here, I just figured I'd ask if you guys can help me make a decision on whether or not to get the MPC-Renaissance. I have an ASR-10, USB turntable with rca outs, Logic 9, no audio interface or mixer. I was initially thinking about getting a Duet 2 and maybe a little mixer so I can EQ the samples before I sample into the ASR, but I was thinking since the MPC-R is coming soon, why not hold off and save up a little more for that? Would I be able to midi up my asr-10 into the mpc-r and track out my beats, or be able to trigger my ASR-10 samples off the MPC-R and record it into the MPC software? Would I lose the asr-10s quality doing this or is this not even possible? If I'm not clear in what I'm asking please let me know, cause I really want to start tracking out beats and finishing them up in Logic and make them mp3s. Thank you.

Well the MPC Ren has a soundcard and midi ports so you should be able to control your outboard gear and get audio into the Ren. If you can't it will be dumb on their part.

I think all you need is Logic and a good audio interface. That EXS 24 sampler has got to be the best, most powerful sampler on the market, stock plugins are high end.every plugin that one could possibly need. If I didnt love my 4K so much, I'll do everything in Logic.

When you suggest that, what's the point of my asr-10 or ur mpc 4k? Lol i apprecciate you actually replying pf the 35+ views...but i feel like u told me dont smoke when u smoke (if u get my analogy)

I already do use logic and the exs sampler (ive made over 200 beats) i know it's amazing....but in my opinion, i'd rather use hardware to chop (i prefer hearing then seeing the waveform)....what's a "good" interface? Everyone has their opinions so that's why i ask....duet 2, apogee one? Onyx 820i?, i don't need crazy ins and outs, i got 2 mics and a guitar but have no need to record all at once.

i dont recommend things unless i've tried them... never tried the duet or one,

i use and own the rme uc and fireface400. out of all the sound cards i've owned, These have been the best and i haven't switched since... I've used the rme baby face before(it has adat in and out for good expansion) It has two in two out anolog out and midi in and out also a separate headphone out.. Imo rme roundtrip latency is the best i've ever experienced..(their drivers are reliable and stable at the lowest buffer settings..) Which is a must if your doing performance pad hitting and want your software to react fast. I wouldn't recommend the Ren because i haven't tried it yet.. If you wanna start tracking now i'd suggest going for the best quality with the option to expand your in and out count. So i'd suggest the rme baby face. The other thing i forgot to mention is that the baby face also has a hi z input for bass and guitar input... The total mix (once you understand it) is really powerful to to create different hardware mixes for your outputs..

I'm waiting to see what the ren/studio will be like before i cop it.. Since i own maschine and mpc's the ren/studio software has to have some serious features and stability for me to shell out for it...

You want one with excellent converters. Especially if you're worried about losing your ASR sound quality. I couldn't recommend an interface. You may want to check the studio environment section. They may be able to give you good interface recommendations over there.

Nobody really knows what The Ren could do yet. The Ren would be a good solution for me, because it could bring some of my 4k workflow to their DAW as well as my VSTs. But I have no intentions on buying one until I get enough data from consumer reviews and of course the Sound on Sound review.

I'm skeptic of the Ren because the MPC 4000 and the 2500 were the best MPCs. numark/akai dumped both of them and replaced it with the 5k that has bad reviews across the board. They're really not intouch with the MPC user or sampled based producer in general. The Japanese Jenuis is...but not the New Akai. It's all wait and see with The Ren..which is what I would do if I were you....wait-and-see.

I've heard some good things about the apogee interfaces (for $600 they better be) but have no personal usage so I can't recommend it myself. I'm not sure if they'd keep the ASR sound either, so you might want to try a few out. Check out some stores that let you do returns within 30 days so you have a good amount of time to test it and see if its what you want/need.
