Very good video Jah, but I find Ren's sampling editing to be a task. Perhaps if I were coming directing from using my MPC 4000 I would not feel this way (perhaps). But, I am coming from 2 years with Maschine and even with it's sample editing flaws, it shines way beyond Ren. The ease of precision is Ren's sample editing issue. Sampling percussion on Ren may look easy because you can see all of the transients, etc. But once you start sampling records, which need precise start/end points, the Zoom and use of hardware make Ren a painful task to get tight.

I'm sorry maybe I'm the only one thinking this but i don't know what you're doing. It's hard to follow with no narration and it's not in HD so I can't make out what's on the pads and in the sequencer. It's way too boring to follow and take something from this unless I had the Ren in front of me and could see what you were doing.

This was my first time using this program (Screenflow) and it uploads straight to You Tube. Not sure how to improve the quality but "ill look into it.

What you are seeing is a 2 bar sequence. In Sample Record Mode, I resample this sequence and then enter Chop Mode to chop it up. Bu unchecking 'Crop' param, the sample is chopped up nondestructively. So you can edit the start/end points of each 'slice'.

There you go people. Jah's annual 2 bar loop . Just kidding Jah, I know you only say that stuff to get under peoples skin. Nice feature.

jah whats the difference between link slices (as featured in the sound on samplers vid)and crop samples?(your vid)doesnt the link slice button do the same thing...if not excuse my ignorance ,trying to learn.

Both of the functions are related. LINK ON is simply the traditional slicing. LINK OFF unlinks the slice end point one one sample and the start point of the next. This allows slice regions to overlap. Once you want to create a program, you use the Convert function I showed in the video....and choose whether you want to CROP or NOT CROP the samples.
