#1 How does Ren translate 4000 Multi, Programs and Sequences?
#2 Can sequences be selected "drum machine style" by punching numbers?
#3 Can sequences be loaded while another is being played?

1. Multis do not work, as there's no correlation in ren to those. We're working on a few ideas, but as of now, you need to load the programs, then load the sequences, and the individual programs should be mapped to the correct track on the correct sequence.

2. yes, you can use the number pad to directly type in sequence numbers

3. right now, loading a sequence will stop the sequencer, but we're working on that for a future update. we're making good progress too, so it should happen pretty soon.

Ok, so currently I'm using the MPC 4000 live... I have one multi with around 80 different programs. I switch between my sequences randomly on the fly (DJ Style). From what you are suggesting is that can't currently do that on the Ren?

Yes you can do that. You can initially load the entire project into the Ren (i.e. 80 programs, bunch of sequences), hit the NEXT SEQ tab and all the sequences are assigned to pads and you fire them off at will, controlling if it's sudden or comes in at the next bar or whatever, it's a standard MPC feature.

So in your situation, you'd need to load all your 4000 sequences and AKPs into the Ren (AKPs one by one, sequences via ALL), tweak it all as required so you're happy with the Ren versions, then re-save as a single Ren project file. You can then take that with you to a gig and load that up at the start.

I believe xparis was referring to not being able to physically load a sequence file from disk while the current sequence is playing - this does halt playback. As long as all your sequences are already in memory, you're good.
