In MPC Ren Software:

goto Preferences> Input: Soundflower 16 ch Output: MPC Ren

Mac OS System Sound:
change to Soundflower 16ch in both Input and Output.

Open Soundflower; Open Line-In from Applications folder

Line-In Input: Soundflower 16 ch // Output: MPC Ren

or you can go into settings select sound and change the output of the computer to headphone jack and sample that way.

yeah for some reason you don't need Line-In on MPC Software but for me Maschine needed it because of the lack of on-board headphone/monitor outs..


so that is why Line-In isn't needed for MPC..

I guess if you weren't to use MPC's Headphones/Outs for monitoring purposes.. you can add Line-In to bounce all streams of audio to say RME Babyface/Duet 2

Right. With Maschine you would likely have to use LineIN with Soundflower since it doesn't allow separate devices for input and output. That or something like the S/PDIF or ADAT output of your interface to create a physical loop. With RME gear though you can use the Totalmix software to create a lossless virtual loopback (route a software out to an input channel in the mixer) and don't need either LineIN or Soundflower. I'm not sure about the Duet.

I can't answer for jaxxkg but generally speaking. There is no difference between 2ch and 16ch except that the latter allows more I/O, selective routing and requires you to setup and have the Soundflowerbed "helper" app or LineIN running when in use. 2ch is appropriate for stereo recording and doesn't require Soundflowerbed to be running. 2ch can essentially be looked at as the first 2 channels of 16ch.

no science/reason behind it... I just always used it.. probably read somewhere that it if the event happens and I need it I can always use other channels....

anyone else get this intermittent crackle/clipping noise when using soundflower?

I'm on the PC. I've heard of programs that might help such as Virtual Audio Cable but it's far from user friendly.

I'm trying to sample snippits from video files that I play back from my PC.

Can anyone help me set-this up?

I've tried almost everything as far as selecting different inputs/outputs in the MPC Ren software & I've also tried using another audio interface but that seemed to just confuse things further.

I have an old Mbox that I use. I hook my cables to the Mbox out and Ren In. That's another option.

Can anyone understand why you cannot just have your computer sound set to the REN and in the RENs software just sample the main out?
This surely could be a very easy thing to do?
