Installing Plug-Ins on Sample Drive

I have been using the Reni for a week now with my old kits, and I just tried to install all of the plugin disks. I want to install the samples on my sample drive, and it doesn't give me an option to install them on a different drive other than the system disk!

Anyone know how to pull this off. I have an SSD as my system drive and its not big enough to hold all of the Plug-In disks.

Interestingly enough, I don't think you can! Never even realized this, but there is no option to point the software to a different location for the plugins or MPC Content samples. You should be able to move the MPC Content folder to where ever you want and just access it by navigating through the browser. But the actual "MPC Content" shortcut that's built into the software probably won't work. As for the 4 plugin banks, I don't think there is a way to point the software to a new location if you move them.

On the other hand, if you don't have enough space on your harddrive to fit a 9GB library, you probably shouldn't be using that harddrive for music with it nearly filled to capacity!

I actually figured it out after playing around. There is a "Pluginname.TXT" file in the C:/ProgramData/AKAI/MPC directory that points the Plugins to the folder that the samples are stored in. You can edit that TXT file and move the samples to the location that you desire, but everything has to be installed in the default location 1st.

I like all of my samples to be on a separate drive than the OS. System remains really stable that way. I have always run my studio computer that way and I have never had any problems with stability and I want to keep it that way.

Hate to bump this old thread. I tried the above method and I am able to move the banks to my dedicated Hard Drive.

The error I am getting is the presets no longer populate in the preset list in the sequence window. Is there a way to fix this on Windows 7 PC?

I am trying this and must find a way to make it work. I have spent a lot of time trying to make it work, something is not working. I have changed the text file but the presets and samples are not showing up. What am I missing?
