To set the MPD or MPK to listen to External clock press the Global button and then page right until you see MIDI/CLK. Set this option to External. Make sure you are on the latest firmware to be able to save this change.

The Tap Tempo light will stop blinking which confirms it is no longer using Internal Clock.

This bugged me initially with my MPC Studio black.

In Preferences (MPC One, MPC Live, MPC software), there's an option to turn off the Tap Tempo light. I'm surprised no one's mentioned this.

It's quick and easy, and the best solution. Hope that helps!

Now that you have...it will start driving you nuts....or perhaps not.

I think the MPC 5000 is one of the few, if not the only other MPC with this light. You can set it to always flash like the Ren or only flash when you tap it.

Duct tape fixes everything. I cut a piece of black duct tape and covered the light. I didn't change the default settings. I have no more distraction. Unconventional, but effective!

That's why they are the best, among other things.
