Mpc Renaissance controller not recognized

I just got my MPC Ren. Downloaded the driver, software, and content, as per Manual.
Connected the tried to open the program by filling out the authorization form and realized that the unlock tab is grayed out. The MPC Ren controller is in Vegas mode where all of the lights circulate on the device. I re-installed and still have the same problem. Could someone lend advise to assist me with this problem?

This is happened to a few folks. Close out of the software, turn off the Ren, then turn the Ren back on. Now open the software back up. Sometimes I have to do this a few times before it works. I want this fixed in the next software update.

Never had this issue. If you follow the directions, you should not have this issue in 1.2.

1. Install the driver and then the software
2. Turn on the Ren
3. Launch the software
4. Register the software

Also....I use a Mac where I feel is easier to install than on a PC.

I use both too and for me the setup is quite the same

Try a different usb port on you computer.

Use a USB port on your computer and not a hub for trouble shooting this issue. If the Ren is not recognized when installed, there is an issue with the driver installation or the hardware is defective.

I finally fixed it by uninstalling the midi driver and installing the driver midi driver that AKAI uses for the Ren. Polytec is the company that makes the driver. Installed it and it works. This is scary...That's a huge bug... Hope it's smooth sailing from here.

Sorry but this is definitely not a bug but user error. The driver that is included on the installation disk must be installed first. This info is in the users manual and its also detailed during the installation process.

It is the usual way almost every hardware must be installed. When you install computer hardware you must install drivers first, because if you connect the hardware before installing the drivers there are chances that the OS will automatically install generic drivers that will not work correctly.

You are absolutely wrong... It is a software problem. I even updated the driver online. I tried several methods of installation and nothing worked. I am very computer literate. When I couldn't figure out a solution. I had my partner/engineer try to install the drivers as well by following the manual and other sources of information when it did not install properly. Technically, there seemed to be a conflict with the midi driver because everything was installed except that. My partner said "why don't we find out who Akai uses to make their midi driver and try to install it. He found out that it was Polytec. Installed it...NO MORE PROBLEMS. THAT IS NOT A USER BASED ERROR.

Akai tech support never got back to me via email.
Is this the norm with Akai's tech support?

Sounds like user error to me...or something going on with your computer that is interfering with installation.

I just purchased an MPC Studio last week. It shipped with 1.1. I installed 1.1 along with its drivers and software. Then downloaded the updates from Akai and installed. I was able to install the software flawlessly on Mac OSX 10.7.5.

Just because YOU could install it, doesn't mean it works on EVERY system...
