The Ren is not suited for Live performances.

There was a post recently by IMAKEMADBEATS and he said he used it with no problems.

I guess if you know what does and doesn't work with the software, you know what you can and can't do live.

My main issues with it live is the crashes and scatchy noise.I have seen this at least more than 4 times the Ren in which they had to stop and reload the software.

This. The PC is ultimately flexible. But it can also be pushed to the breaking point. And of course, people with shitty 1998 Windows ME machines love to **** about today's poorly developed products.

You are right but he has the latest Mac Book pro with the lastest OS.He doesnt do anything else with Mac book just like me but we still having the same issues only thing he took chances using it at gigs.

I wonder if araabMUZIK has dropped his white 2500 in favour of the Ren for live performances? Has anyone seen any of his recent gigs? The last one on youtube is from 10th December in Warsaw, he's still using the 2500 in that one.

How could you use the Ren live, anyway? I've been meaning to ask this for a while. I really want to get out there and start playing gigs, but I don't really know how... If there's a how-to thread already posted, could one of you guys link it to me? I don't want to be stupid and create a thread that probably already exists.

i pretty sure he's not gonna roll with the ren that 2500 is far better for live you haven't got any laptop issues either and less baggage. the thing is the ren doesn't offer anything new for live performances i actually prefer the pads on the 2500 to ren.
my ideal machine would be 4000 engine inside 2500 with the jog wheel of the ren.

I think the benchmark has to be ableton. I could list countless acts touring with it who have had no problems.
The Ren in its current state struggles just to be a vst host let alone more.
However u should be able to do sample triggering reliAbly. Not much of a technical achievement though.
To be honest even if akai manage to incorporate realtime time stretching they are still years behind ableton in terms of doing anything innovative for software in live performance.

Its quite sad in many ways as good realtime time stretching alorhythms are even part of c++ development libraries etc.

Would be nice if akai could find a way to bring something innovative to live performance software. They are however struggling just to be a reluable vst host At the moment.

I have a live beat set in may and i plan on using the Ren.I really hope 1.3 can make this stable enough for this.Ill mostly be triggering samples and do some live drumming,nuthin too crazy.

Yeah, I use Windows 8 and a SONY all-in-one at home and can say that its really not the hardware at this time. Software is too buggy to even chance being embarrased on a live stage. You better take something stable with you in case the REN goes into it bug frenzy. This thing will lock up on you when you least expect it and make all type of whinny noise..lol. The only way to clear it is to shut it down and restart.
