REN FAIL SAFE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH REQUIRED !!!

FAIL SAFE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH REQUIRED

LAST UNSAVED SESSION - THE REN SHOULD HAVE AN AUTO SAVE BACKUP SYSTEM THAT SAVES UP TO THE LAST MOVE THAT THE USER MADE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. AFTER A CRASH A SOFTWARE PROMPT SHOULD APPEAR ON SCREEN ALLOWING THE OPTION TO OPEN THE LAST UNSAVED SESSION. (ABLETON LIVE DOES THIS WELL).

Any thoughts, is this important to you?

This would eliminate many mishaps and give the user a much better feeling knowing that the work is always being saved. The automatic bug reporting system would be good as well. I have been using the Ren for about 30 or more songs and I love the feel and I believe that with the current rate of updates and the Akai Team listening to the customers the Ren will evolve into being the most flexible and powerful MPC ever! So people speak up about what you want ... WE NEED A FAIL SAFE AGAINST CRASHES PLEASE!!! :nod: :nod: :nod:

It can be a total work killer.

As soon as I got the Ren, I started sampling loads of vinyl into it.
Little did I know that renaming one of the samples in the memory could lead to the whole thing crashing.
Restarted it and couldn't believe I should sample it all again.
That sucked.

:-D ..I get what you are saying, but what I mean is an auto save system that runs in the background that stores all of your moves and data up to the point of the crash. This would also kill two problems being that the undo/redo function would also be corrected. If you have ever worked with Live 8 then you know how valuable this function is. :nod: :nod: :nod:

This may be harder to implement than you think. Currently when you save, all of the audio stops and it focuses on only saving everything. An auto-save backup system would in it's current state interrupt your work every time a backup occurred.

So coding wise this is probably moderately difficult to implement without interrupting your workflow.

That said, I'd love an auto-save backup feature :smoker:

Yeah...I would like to see this as well with my Studio. Haven't been able to make ONE F&@king beat yet with it, and I pre- ordered and got it first week. Due to crashes. Always. I don't even really have an opinion on it yet cuz it is buggy as all get out. Not a satisfied customer. Plus, bought it to also use as a controller with Reason, and that doesn't work either. Even though all press and even the box states it can be used to control DAW of choice. I wish I would've gone with an MPD, as I just went back to my 5000 and 2500. Aarrggghhh!!!

+1000 great idea !! I know we ask for many things that are probably years away but this one I believe would be the item that would build more confidence in the everyday use of the Ren software. I use it everyday by saving after each move and know how critical it is to have a fail safe.

@ JAH or the Akai Team, do you know if this is something that is being developed or if this is on the recommendation list?
