Why do my midi notes stick?

Really?!! Akai....why do my midi notes stick? $1300 and your telling me i cant play a couple of bars of piano with a keyboard without a note being stuck? Im really hoping and praying that these bugs get fixed soon

Have you reported this issue to Akai?

Can you describe your set-up?

1. Is your stuck notes occurring with plugin instruments? If so, which ones?

2. Is your stuck notes occurring with keyboards, keyboard workstation, sound modules? Which specific model(s) are you using?

3. Do you have your keyboard connected to the Ren via its USB or MIDI port? Or do you have it connected to your computer's USB port or a USB hub?

Also...can you revise the title of your thread? "Come On!!!" is not a useful title. A clear and consise title will attract Ren/Studio users that may have the same problem or my provide you a solution to the problem you are experiencing.

If you have your keyboard controller connected using both usb and midi then unplug one and just use it one way (either midi or usb), I used to experience this problem in Reaper until I actually realized what was going on.

Sorry about the frustrated subject title.... i am using an imac with os10. i have my motif xs routed to the mpc ren using midi cables. (i didnt know i could route midi to the ren using the usb option, i will try this as the motif is capable of sending midi via usb). The note sticking occurs while im using the motif as a sound module (sending notes through the keyboard) and also while using the akai plugins and any of my third party plugins (vsti). its just really frustrating. ive been using the mpc2500 for years now and was really excited about the ren. man.... this thing is great but some of the the functions that "seem" to be expected to work are just hit-n-miss. thanks to akai for a great product but i stand by my comment.. "Come on!!"

Use your usb midi and not the regular midi, you might have some type of midi loop going on where when you send midi out it is coming back to your keyboard controller and is trying to send those notes out again, this happened to me. Check/verify your midi inputs/outputs.

Try this:
1. Connect the MIDI Out of the Motif to the MIDI In of the Ren; unplug all other MIDI cables. Then use your Motif as a controller to record your VST instruments. Let us know your results.

2. Connect the MIDI Out of the MPC Ren to the MIDI In of the Motif; unplug all other MIDI cables. Then use the Ren's pads to record a sequence using the Motif as a sound module. Let us know your results.

Ok.. I just took the midi cables out of the equation altogether. Man motif xs is now pluged into my mpc ren via usb. I routed midi in and out to the motif and it works perfectly! I did not realize that the usb port could be used to plug in a usb keyboard. WOW! very nice. The future is here, but why have the midi cable inputs if its functionng is sub-par? still ....thanks for the great product akai. Inspiration is back!

I haven't experienced your issue using different keyboards using MIDI cables. So I wouldn't call it sub-par until it is determined whether it is a bug or something sepecific to your set-up. As written above, you could be having some sort of MIDI loop.

Have you tried the two suggestions I mentioned above?

Lately using alot my native instruments ive noticed sticking notes a ridiculous amount even when switching to a different preset. Idk why this happening but a update is def in need again and soon im hoping.

What are your computer/keyboard controller specs.
Everything works great for me, so I think it would be good for you to check and make sure that it isn't a bad midi cable, midi loop (like explained earlier), or a bad midi controller. These things are much easier to troubleshoot.

I have Massive as well. And I can't produce any notes sticking. I am using my Korg Kronos as a controller and its connect to the MIDI input of the Ren. I am running OSX 10.7.5.

1. What OS is your computer running?

2. What controller are you using? How is it connected to the Ren?

3. Are you using any foot controllers connected to the Ren or your keyboard controller?

4. Does the Red MIDI indicator in the upper right of the Ren software stay on even when not touching the controller?

It's been asked multiple times already for detailed info of you guys set-ups. I can't assist you without additional details. Akai certainly can't fix any issue you have without this information.

Are they sticking only when using the REN? Does it work fine when using Massive in standalone mode? Do you have midi cables connected to your Korg microstation as well as USB?

no midi cables, and it only seems to be with the Ren
