AKAI, seriously...since we now know you're not going to update the 5K or fix the bugs, can you at LEAST get the MIDI out ports functional on the Renaissance?! :WTF:

What problems are you having with your MIDI output ports. As far as I can tell, mine are working just fine.

Have you checked the MIDI and Sync Preferences to ensure your ports are properly set-up? The basics are in the manual.

I'm simply trying to start/stop external hardware sequencers. I had some projects on the 5K which open effortlessly in the MPC R. problem is, some of those projects had hardware devices slaved to the 5K. I don't see any settings to set Renaissance up as master so I can slave hardware to the MIDI out ports. Looks like the 5K is still in the mix...unless I'm missing something?

You set this up in MIDI and Sync Preferences. In MIDI Preferences, you assign available MIDI drivers to the Ren's 4 MIDI Outs. In Sync Preferences, you select up to 2 Output ports to send MTC or MIDI Clock.

It's explained in the manual.....

I read it, tested it and MIDI Clock out does not work. I cannot trigger external hardware sequencers with the MPC Renaissance. Try it Jah and let me know how you manage it.

That's with the mode set to MPC on the hardware. If I choose MIDI, it sends MIDI signals because I can hear the sample being triggered on the external hardware when I press play on the MPC, but the R won't send MIDI clock.

Which software version of the Ren are you running? The latest are 1.3 and 1.3.1

You are actually right. In 1.3.1, the Ren has a MIDI Clock Output bug. There is a related thread in the forums and the issue already reported to Akai.

If your external sequencers support MTC, then use that as it works fine.

No worries, the device I use doesn't receive MTC but I don't mind waiting for the fix. I'm glad Akai is aware of it and hopefully they'll take care of it soon.

I suspect it will...
