drum- and sample-layering problems

I got my MPC Ren earlier this week and i'm starting to get it... a little...
Today I recorded a drumsequence (2 Bars), with a snare and a kick only. How come that my snare gets cut in half when the kick starts again after 1 Bar. Same at the end of bar 2.

I have the same problem with my samples. If i wanna add some more samples off a record, i created a new track, record it, but the samples get recorded but are cut off...

Searched The manual, but couldn't really find the solution to my problem...

Either the program is set to MONO, or the entire program is assigned to the same Mute Group. If you set the program to POLY instead, and turn mute groups off, you should be fine.
In the manual...look up what those terms and functions are.

Thanks for the help. The samples were MONO, so i changed them. For the drums it was the mute group problem. PLayed a little with it, still gotta learn though.
