hey whats up !i need help been searching this topic for a lil bit and i cant find a straight anwser.... im comin off a 2000xl and im really intrested in scoopin up a ren .... i end up mixing every thing in protools. ive seen the tutorial on using ren as a plug in and getting everything to wrk correctly and in synch but, i dont want to do that ..... i know its possible to render the tracks individualy .... my question is once i import all the audio in to protools and match my bmp will i have a timing issue like the legacy mpc (wit out midi synch)

Thanx!

what hellfire said. ive never used a ren personally, but the whole idea behind bouncing stems out of anything is that they are universally accepted into any daw/multitrack recorder ect.

so you can bounce your stems, and mix it in protools, and you could also hook your friend up with the stems and he might be using logic or cubase, or even a radar multitrack recorder with a mixing board. point being the stems will work in anything, you just gotta remember the BPM and set your host device to that bpm so the delays and fx will match up correctly.

one more Q's! ... if im using an external synth and seq with the ren via midi notes, can i set up a track to record the actual audio in the ren?

Since the MPC software mixer is a mess, once I have the sequences laid out into a song I then convert the song to a sequence and solo each track and export them one at a time. There is an export option to export individual tracks but it's based on output routing and if you use any program FX you'll end up with a ton of stuff in one audio clip. It's doable but a little time consuming if you want all the individual parts separate.

@billynojokes. I don't think their is a way to record an audio track in the REN at the present moment but I'm not 100% sure. The only way and don't quote me is to sample synth parts in REN software then replay them. Another way is to load MPC software as a plugin in DAW then record synth or what ever on empty audio track in DAW. The MPC plugin will slave to DAW and your sequenced parts in MPC will lock in. You can record from there. Hope I made sense.

As of 1.3 as well as 1.4, the Ren doesn't have audio tracks to record your synths as audio. You will have to use a DAW such as Pro Tools which is now advertised to be included with the Ren. This wasn't initially available when the Ren shipped so if you need this software be sure that it is included before you purchase.

You can connect the audio outputs of the synth to the Ren and sample the synth audio as the Ren plays back the midi. Then just trim/chop the new sample and sequence it into your beat.

thanx a lot for all the insight pples !

i was under the impression that when u use ren as a plug in(in my case pro tools) the external midi controlls turns off .... for example if i have a synth hooked up to the ren recorded a bunch of seq with it then brang the ren into protoolsas a plug in . the midi would not send the notes to the synth .....

watched a you tube video and the dude said that .. did an update fix that ?
