I have found that the names of MPC 3000 files are modified when attempting to load them in OSX. This happens with any file name on an MPC 3000 disk that has greater than 8 characters. So when I load an MPC 3000 file (ex., DANCE_KICK.snd) in the Ren, the Ren is looking for the original name while OSX is showing an abbreviated version (ex., DANCE_KI.snd). So the file isn't found.

I attempted to load the same program in Maschine and it produced the same results.

The solution is to rename your files (8 characters or less) in your hardware MPC and save to floppy disk in order to load into the Ren. I created programs directly on my MPC 3000 using this method and they loaded in the Ren without issues.

hi i'm 1998, have we met?

just kidding - but this is very useful information that needs to be said as often as possible.

keep your filenames on your legacy mpc files to 8 characters or less - otherwise when you connect to a computer your files could disappear. sometimes a computer will shorten filenames like bassdrum1 and bassdrum2 to bassdrum (8 chars). since those two files now have the same name, the computer can't handle it and one will likely vanish into the ether.
