How well does Ominsphere play with the Ren? I'm thinking about picking it up.

Do a search as there have been some reports about it in this forum. I can't recall of the top, but there are some issues with it in 1.3 that have been reported to Akai.

You are not searching properly. I used 'Omnisphere' as a keyword to search in this forum and 6 pages of posts were displayed.

There were reports that its search function was disabled when used inside the Ren/Studio.

It works inside of the Ren, but you have to use your mouse to scroll sounds. The cursor don't want to midi cc learn. But it works fine other wise, and Omnisphere has a sick library of sounds. There is some pretty slick sound design out there for it too.

Works great patches are often big which can eat up you 32 bit ram allowance.

If u love a synth with great presets then I don't think anything beats it.

That sounds like something different perhaps i misunderstood that issue. There are many plugins that don't reveal their presets to their DAW. If they don't, then you won't be able to select presets from the Ren's hardware. You will find the same issue in Maschine and non-NI plugins.

Yea threw some playing around I was able to midi cc learn functions to the Q-links. The Ren does not do any sorta pre-set scan of omnisphere to the Q-links. You have to do it yourself, you were correct Jah in the past post with your answer. And I was asking about midi cc learning the cursor functions to be able to scroll from the hardware. That and that is a no go at this time.

Akai has been moving forward at a impressive pace. I imagine in do time all demands will be met.

The Ren immediately maps directly to params using Program Edit Qlinks in most of my plugins. But it doesn't with Battery 4 and Mach Five. In Battery 4, I have to enable Host Automation (as oppose to MIDI CC learn) for each knob I want to control. Upon doing this, the Ren automatically sees them and maps them to the Qlinks just like my other plugins. However, I am at the mercy of the plugin developer to determine which params can be automated. It is impossible to set Battery 4 up like MPC Drum Programs. If I want to map Amp Envelope ADSR for Battery cells, that will take up 16 Qlinks as opposed to using only 4 Qlinks for all 128 pads in an MPC Program. It would be sweet if a plugin like Battery could be completely integrated with the Ren or Maschine. NI is slipping. Maschine would be bad ass if it used Battery 4 engine.

As far as the Mach Five 3....I am still trying to figure this out how to map knobs.

omni great but very complex to get the full benefit from it's features i think you'd have to use it in established DAW.
omni sounds great my favorite is UHE diva, if you haven't tried diva give it a go.

With the exception of 64 bit & multicore support...what do you mean by 'full benefits'?

automation for one, on an established DAW you can quickly and easily extract more potential out of this beast of a synth than the Ren because the Ren is still in it's infancy in comparison with other DAWs, it's a different beast the ren a hybrid and weather it goes the full DAW route is something that has already been debated.
i mainly use the ren for its mpc roots ie a sampling drum machine. the vst thing is a bonus but isn't developed enough yet. the whole vst plugin thing has opened up some problems and additional user requests so consequently it's taken some attention away from the fundamentals that the mpcs are renowned for that need priority development and that would to win over the legacy users.

for instance i wouldn't make a trance track in the ren that is heavily reliant on automation and efx maybe i'd do the drums and some ideas. but sample based rap beat with a limited fx and some vst automation no problem

i'm not running down the ren but just saying you may not be able fully exploit
your new 500 dollar vst instrument as you could in one of the top ten DAWs
just bare that in mind before you purchase if it's solely for use in the ren at
this point in time.
that's why suggested a cheaper lighter alternative synth with a huge library
of presets.

The Ren can't do automation of its effects. But it can automate params to include effects in plugins instruments that it host.
