Weird "Screamy" Sound When Automating Plug-Ins In Logic

My REN usually doesn't give me many problems and I make music with it pretty regularly but this one has me stumped. I loaded up an EP88 piano for a track I was working on for school, assigned tremolo and depth automation to the REN from within Logic and as soon as I touched the "Q" Links, I heard this weird, high pitched, almost screaming sound. It happened as I just touched the top of the "Q" Link. It changed to another weird, slightly lower pitched whine as I moved the knob back and forth. Reassigned all automation to my MPK49 and all was good. I did a search and saw no none else having this issue, so it's gotta be something I'm doing wrong. Any ideas? Thanks fellas. MBPro, Lion, 2.6GHZ, quad core, i7, 16GB ram.

(PS) Now that I think about it, I did have the REN as a plugin on another track. Think this contributed to the problem?

Do you run the Ren as Plugin in Logic ?

Yes. The REN was also running as a plug-in on a different track at the time.
