There are zero reasons for anyone that uses plugins to revert to an older software version.

#1: Are you saying that for those of us who primarily sequence external gear a downgrade might be better? Let me rephrase my scenario. As a keyboardist, I plan to use the Studio in connection with a MIDI keyboard and a multitimbral sound module. No sampling whatsoever, no plugins, no drum pad pushing at all. Only sequencing triggering external hardware. Which software version should I choose? What would be your advice?

#2: Have you noticed any difference in MIDI latency behaviour between your Rens and your Studio when using one of your keyboards as MIDI controller and another one as sound module via MIDI OUT? I´m a bit scared of the Studio´s 1/8th inch to 5 pin midi cables. Are ´real´ MIDI jacks trustier? Does it really matter? Thanks.

Sounds like neither Ren nor Studio is the right piece of gear for your needs. I'd look other options.

If you are primarily sequencing hardware there is no reason why you should 'downgrade'. There has been improvements to MIDI with almost every update to include MIDI program/bank selection, sync options, DAW transport mapping, MIDI programs, etc.

I see no differences between the Ren and Studio in terms of MIDI performance. They both use the same software. And you are free to choose any audio/MIDI interface.
