Sequence and Song Memory

Hello! I was unable to find a post that answers this question, and the specs make this a bit unclear, though I will make some assumptions.

Question: What amount of memory is available for sequences and songs? For the MPC2500 it is around 1.2 MB. For the MPC2000XL it's about 1.4 MB.

This is not related to the sample memory, which I understand to be based on your laptop/system hardware (comparison, MPC2500: 128 MB, MPC2000XL: 32 MB), so could be 16 GB or more?

But, two distinct types of memory allocation.

Reason I ask: I like to write multiple variations of 2/4/8-measure sequences with several tracks containing midi notes and control changes, which uses seq/song memory very quickly (this is for controlling hardware synths).

I've not had the opportunity to try a Ren out in-person, but I'm curious if this could be utilized as one device to mix between multiple multi-sequence songs, rather than having to use 2x MPC2500s to do the same thing?

I haven't seen any specific documentation....but I assume its only limited to the specs of your computer and operating system running it.

2 * mpc2500 max ram = 256 mb

1 ren with macbook pro with 8gb of ram... really less system resources about 6 gb ...

Still way ahead with ram headroom... But ... Try it out first...

Not sure how well it would translate your 2500 prjects though to give it a real test run...

I've been using the ren live but just as a live sampler (no sequencing) and since it has larger ram capacity with a comp, you can do quite large sets... and change up sounds for each song a bit better..

It works flawlessy with no drop outs or clicks/distortion with the settings on 128 samples for buffer setting.. I don't notice the latency (haven't tested but i think its like 5 or 6 ms roundtrip but cant confrm remember) when performing... like a hardware mpc....

Still the laptop hanging off is a pain in the arse, as always there are other setups like cdjs turntable all taking up place and i had no where to really put the laptop... Fukn punters walking on stage and i can just see someone ripping out that usb cable by accident.....
