Does the ren only send program changes via midi?

Does the ren send program changes for external modules via midi cables only.... i cant get it to work with the usb midi. trying to get the motif xs board and the ren to play nicely... thanks

Make sure enter Preferences and select the MIDI tab. There you would set one of the 4 MIDI Out Ports to the Motif (or a USB device that the Motif is connected to).

When you create a MIDI Track, select the appropriate Port. Move the cursor to PC (program change) and press [Window] button to gain access to sending Bank Select messages to the Motif.

Do you have your Motif and the Ren sync'd via MTC or MIDI Clock? Or are you just using the Motif as a sound module without using any sync?

Based on the limited info you posted, it is not unheard of that MIDI devices will not sync right away. When using sync, it is wise to have an empty bar or two at the beginning of a sequence.

Regardless, can you post a video of exactly what you are doing? It won't hurt to submit the issue to Akai to see if it is possible that it can be improved upon.
