Copy note sequence from one pad to another?

Is this possible? From/to the same track or to another track?

I generally just work from within 1 track and 1 sequence, jamming using pad mutes from the pad mix view (lots of fun this way btw!)

SEQ EDIT allows you to copy notes within a specific range from one track to another, but I believe that currently it copies all notes and there's no way to select specific notes like you can with legacy MPCs.

Workaround would be to copy all the notes in the range to the other track and then erase the notes you don't want.

This is a feature I miss. I usuallly just create on 1 track and then extract others when Im done. Hopefully this will make it next update.

The functionality is there (selecting specific notes to copy) but not from the hardware like hardware MPCs. In the software, you can select, copy, and paste specific notes. You can also use a combination of the hardware's pads and your keyboard to copy specific events.

When the [X] above the Sequencer Grid is enabled, striking a pad selects all the events for that pad. Then using [Command] + [C] and [Command] + [V] will allow you to copy and paste these events to a location of your choosing:
1. Strike Pad A01 to select events
2. Press [Command] + [C]
3. Strike Pad A02
4. Press [Command] + [V]

Results - you just copied all of the events for Pad A01 and pasting them to Pad A02 at the 'Now' position of the sequencer. This can be on the same track, a different track, or even into a different sequence.

Still rather the old way. But good to know this method.

I don't believe there are very many features that a hardware MPC has that the MPC Software doesn't that I haven't submitted a feature request for (369 feature requests to date ). The 'old' method of selecting specific notes is desirable.

But...of course I can't sit on my thumb wondering when or if a feature I desire is implemented. I have to use the other options that are available.

Track View Mode is a great place to start doing some editing....

The Ren/Studio controllers are not there quite yet as far as 100% control of the software. It is probably in the range of 95%....+/- 3% points.

Akai has implemented keyboard short cuts and use of the mouse to access most functions. You can even access functions using a touch screen computer monitor.

If there is a specific need you have, I suggest creating a thread in the dedicated Feature Suggestion sub-forum located at the top of this page. Akai has been listening to user feedback.

You can do it 100% from the hardware. Just copy your track to multiple tracks. Make sure "tap pad to select notes" is turned on. Then go to each track, press the pad you want to erase. Press the erase button, set it to "Selected" notes, and press do it.
