so let me see if i got this straight, i dont own a mpc ren. but i remember when they came out and in all the vids and sales pitches the thing it had over the studio is components from older model mpcs that gave it the "vintage" sound over the main outs... now as time has gone by apparently someone has discovered that these sounds are actually plug-ins hidden in the package and these same plug-ins come in the software even if you own studio..... and when akai was asked about it they lied and said it wasnt in the studio yet cause they had not tested it??? so what im basicly gathering here is this has all been a lie and total bullshit, no misunderstanding, all bullshit....how are people not taking these guys to court????? lies lies lies... is this true?????????????? :hmmm: where is JAH on this??

lololol!! oh, im sorry, I didnt know it had been discussed before...i dont read the REN threads much :WTF: but man, they really bitched out from all the talk,.. complete FAIL!!
By fobedafied Mon Oct 07, 2013 6:02 am
didnt it say "24 BIT" on the box......

oh yea, well ummm....

we kinda almost made up for that and made it vaguely "accurate" after the fact....

does the REN now actually RECORD and STORE in 24 now? :hmmm:

i lost track of the desire to care about it....

unless its a convenient example of akai's business practices and attitude towards its customers.......

ok,. well i was surprised to find this out. but i guess i see what is up. its software... **** the akai hype though.. i can make something sound "vintage" in any sampler i got, vintage mode in reason is so easy too, i can think of many devices to use to get a vintage sound off the mains.. i just feel like akai misleads people a bit, i know not to **** with em, but yea, kinda confused about the whole 3000 circuitry thing but the effect comes from a plug-in..lol....again,. sorry for bringing this back up, i had no clue till tonight :smoker:

theres another topic around here, I think, that has pictures of the circuits. Someone opened them both up and compared them.

The way they announced it sounded like it had the 3000 circuitry...

yeah...

edit: nukai= :Sigh:

I believe it was concluded that, they both have 1/4" jacks....

and yes, they in fact said it has the same ("identical" was also used by akai reps) circuitry as the mpc 3000... they said it was part of what made vintage mode work, which once it was found out that it was total BS (I am willing to guess the reps were told to say that, and didn't know themselves if it was true or not) they stopped saying the hardware was tied into it.

there was an attempt by one of those reps in a video (maybe it was a namm type event) attempting to debunk one forum post he read proving the marketing was untrue, which touched base on a circuitry schematic... except it seemed like he didn't actually get what was being said here on the forum.

And last but not least, it turns out they are vst fx pluggins, in a hidden vst host, with no face panel.... and it gets launched in the background when the button is pushed.... but it was also possible to launch it manually as a pluggin which I guess they didn't expect anyone to discover. This made it possible to use on the studio, and on every fx slot or insert.... which is actually preferable. The huge question I don't know the answer to is... did they lock it down so studio users couldn't use it anymore (since it was supposed to be a piece of marketing to entice people to choose the ren over the studio) or did they leave it as is?
