Actually I don't think it has anything to do with Win 8.1...
Anyhow... Do the recent addition of an external drive, I'm actually resetting my folders as I type this, so perhaps I can assist you...
I'm going to be using my Maschine Library in the MPC, so I can show you what I'm doing to set it up for use. I only want to use the 'Sample' folder in the Maschine library, so I do the following to select and set it.
* From the controller, hit 'Browser'
* Hold Shift and Choose from
'Folders' 1 through 5 (in this example I'm selecting 5)
* Of course, Using the cursor buttons, I move through the directories I intent to work with.
* Right cursor into 'Maschine Library'
*Cursor Down to 'Samples'
* With 'Samples' now highlighted, Press F1 (Set) to lock in the folder.
Note: The Highlighted directory becomes the default/chosen directory in this process* Make sure to verify your chosen folder is selected in the Set Browser Location Screen (In this case that's Folder 5)
* Hit F5 (Do It) and you're done
Before 1.3 or 1.4, I believe "last used" folder memories were being used in the MPC software. The behavior changed with one of those versions (can't recall which at the moment) and now it appears they have to be set as mentioned above.
