Stereo Out vs Computer Out

If I'm working on a Ren, do I want my monitors connected to the "out" from my computer, or to the stereo outs from the back of the Ren? I would think you would want to hear the sound directly out of the computer...why does the Ren hardware even have stereo outs on the back? What would you use those for? Seems strange..

The audio ins/outs on the Renaissance are an external audio interface for your computer. Same as having a multiple I/O external USB audio interface.

Should be better sound quality than the computer audio I/O, can run at 96kHz, and should be able to run at lower buffer settings, for lower latency, with less load on the CPU.

The Renaissance inputs and outputs are balanced line level on 1/4 inch jacks, so more standard to interface with other studio equipment. There are 4 outputs, a stereo output level control, a zero-latency input/computer mix control, headphone level control, mix between Main and Assignable outputs into headphones, etc.

Quite a few advantages over built-in computer audio I/O.

Thanks for the reply. Can I go directly from the Ren's 1/4 stereo outs into my monitors? Or should I run it through an external mixer? This isn't a question about preference (i.e. using eq's or effects on an external mixer vs. not). It's a question about safety. I want to make sure that if I run the Ren from the 1/4 stereo outs directly into my monitors, it won't blow or be too much for the monitors to handle. Thanks.

I think it should be fine, it has the volume control on it for that reason.
