I have been struggling the past couple days with a latency and audio distortion issue with the MPC Renaissance and a new Windows 7 64-system. This is a known working MPC unit that works fine with a Windows 7 32-bit laptop.
After installing Windows 7 64-bit fresh and loading up the 1.6 version of the MPC software and the newest Renaissance driver, I was briefly able to use the Renaissance without latency or audio distortion. After about a minute, the sound starts to get very badly distorted. After a few moments, the distortion disappears, but I get about a second delay when hitting the pads. I can "reset" this all by changing my audio preferences in the MPC software. However, no matter which option I choose, the same problem keeps coming back.
I noticed at first that a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse appeared to cause the issue. I unplugged the USB adapter for this, and the latency went away. I left the Ren stable for about 30 minutes before trying to reconnect the Logitech USB adapter. Surely enough, reconnecting the Logitech adapter brought the problem back for the MPC. I then uninstalled and disconnected the Logitech keyboard/mouse.
The second issue occurred when I tried installing a Numark NS6 system. This brought the same distortion/latency issue back, so I uninstalled and disconnected that device as well.
All seemed OK until I sampled from Spotify as a test. This was done from my PC (Realtek on-board sound card) connected to a mixer that is in turn connected to the MPC. After sampling and going into Sample Edit, I got latency.
I was able to sample, chop, and sequence a two-bar sequence after sampling from a vinyl record. However, certain operations like switching the time correct brought the distortion/latency back.
The computer has no antivirus, so that could not be the issue. Windows Defender is disabled/stopped, DEP is turned off, power settings are set to max performance, and Windows is set to best performance. Re-installing the MPC driver/software have not helped. There are no other USB devices connected to the computer that would conflict. The Ren is also plugged in to a USB 2.0 port using the proper cable.
It's almost if there is some device or something that starts fighting with the Ren and then causes latency. I'm hoping someone out there has had a similar issue or saw a fix.
