using the ouput jacks to out put audio

im currently using the ren as a plugin through the usb and the output is virtual into cubase via usb..

im now wanting to us the actual main output on the back of the ren into my mixer.

does anyone know how to do this while the usb is still plugged in ?

You need to set cubase to use the mpc ren driver as your audio device..

really is that the only way? i dont want to use the akai as my soundcard, i already have a soundcard, is there no other way?

2 What extra soundcard do you have?

3 Are the prevous two questions the same unit?

4 The ren has a soundcard built in it and that is the audio outs your are talking about?

If your on mac you can create a aggregate device..(combine two soundcards into one device)
Not sure if this can be done with windows, maybe via asio4all..

The audio ins and outs on the Renaissance are nothing more than an external USB audio interface for the computer.

If you want to use the stereo outs on the Renaissance, you have to set the Renaissance to be the audio interface that the computer applications use.

thanks guys,,, i have a yamaha 01v96i mixer ,its usb and its the sound card, much better than the ren and my mixer too so i cant not have that as my soundcard..

so i looks like its impossible to do what i want to do and use the main outs without using the rens sound card?

if so its another big no no for this unit ..

The main outs ARE the Renaissance sound card.

If you plug a signal into the Renaissance inputs, set the Direct Mon all the way to Input, then it sends the incoming signal from the inputs directly to the main outputs, if you really want to use the Renaissance main outputs for some reason.

jesus , this unit keeps getting worse for me.. lol

think its time to get rid of this and get an mpc5000 . ive never been so disapointed with a instrument/hardware purchase in 25 years of producing.

its a bit backwards as they created this to be used as a plug in in cubase, they know that alot of professionals use cubase and thus would most probably be using high end sound cards so why not can you choose outputs with other sound cards....

Meaning you can do what your wanting to do....

1. When you create this device you then select it in cubase.. (when creating both devices get assigned a virtual/layer output remeber this)

2. Then in vst connections you configure the outputs as seperate cubase aliases/output layer to show up in your track settings..

Actually i haven't tried creatinga aggregate device with the ren yet.. As i think some are not supported...

Yepp, Aggregate Devices work perfectly. But unless NIKFAR doesn't specifiy a bit more about his system, there's no actual way to help him...

Could you guys explain to me how to set up this aggregate device on mac? So you're telling me I can combine 2 audio interfaces in some way??? Please tell me more

Go into Apple Audio MIDI Setup utility, in the Applications/Utilities folder.

In the Audio Devices window, click the + button at the bottom of the audio devices column, choose Create Aggregate Device.

Select the devices you want to use in the Aggregate Device.

Click on the Aggregate Device label in the audio devices column, and rename it, if you want a more descriptive name.

Use that Aggregate Device in your applications as the audio interface.

Not sure how the Clock Source and Drift settings affect operation, as I have not used it, but I have always wondered how aggregate devices handle different devices when their sample rate clocks are not locked together.

i guys, interesting to know this can be done, however i run windows 7 on pc.....

im just looking on line and there seems to be some info on how to set it up on windows 7 so will have a look at this..not sure how the performance and latency will be but will give it a go.
