Hello,

do you know if it's possible to use the Essential hardware as a controller?
I mean, not using its own software but inside a daw. Just like an Mpd.
Also, is it possible to remap the midi notes of the pads?

I already own an Mpd (and also an Mpc2000) and thought that this Essential hardware could be a more reliable controller (only controller) istead of the Mpd.

Thank you for your help.

Ok,
I've just found on its FAQ page that
"Can the MPC Element be used as a MIDI controller in other DAW’s, without MPC Essentials, or MPC Software?

Yes. The MPC Element includes a low power mode, which allows users to trigger samples, or use transport controls in virtually any digital audio software that includes a MIDI mapping mode. Additionally, when in low power mode, the Element's pad arrangement will work perfectly with the iMPC application for iOS."

Just don't understand if its midi notes are remappable.

As far as I can tell it does. The software shows the MIDI CONTROL MODE button:
(see registers at the top of the edit area)

yeah it can definetely be done using midi mode. You just hit a pad while in midi mode and you are able to change any parameters of that pad.

You can then save that mode as a template to load in new projects.

The element works as a controler in the default setting but the notes are all over the place.

Like he said^ Not sure if the Element has midi controller mode but thats where you would want to look into if you want to use the element as a controller. I would tell you to read the manual to find out but Akai hasn't updated it the Ren/studio manual since 1.3, not sure about the element

Right, still manual 1.3 on the official webpage, but there's still 1.5's manual integrated in the software (via HELP). That's poor.
