Hey, I'm a lover of the 3000, and I've been trying to get with Maschine for the last few weeks; I finally gave up, and started looking for another 3000.
Then, I kind of stumbled across the Ren, even though I know it had so many bad reviews. In desperation, not wanting to go back to zip drives and outboard mixers, etc, I checked out the Ren.
I've only had it one day, but I did more work on it the first day than I did the last 2 months in Maschine. It might not be a very slick or up to date feature laden piece, but for a guy like me who swears by the 3k sequencer, feel, vibe, etc, it's pretty close to perfect.
What's it got over the 3k? Well to start;
1) It doesn't run super hot.
2) There isn't a Zip drive, disk, or SCSI cable in sight.
So, right there, that's great.
3) My unit was a floor unit, and its busted, so until I get a new one, I can't comment on the sound.
But, making programs, using your VST's, is dead easy, didn't even need to look at the manual, and the mixer and Q-links might not be as hip as Maschine, but they have it all over what you could do in the 3k, and it's so much easier and faster.
I don't know, I might be on here in 3 more days crying about this or that functionality, but so far, its been more stable than Maschine 2.0 was for me, (used to crash it when auditioning audio files too quickly) and it just WORKS with all my old MPC library and stuff.
I might be the only guy on earth who loves this thing, as its clearly laid out like the 3000 which is what I wanted, and hopefully I will not have to get a 3k ever again.
