Audition sample-sound from L+R speaker,hit PAD? Only L???

jesus, back again with what feels like damn newbie Q. When I audition any sample it plays through L+R channel on my desks levels and also out the speakers. When I hit the pad it is assigned to, I only get sound out of L? What the F***???

I have changed leads, tried different channels, tried different samples? What the hell is going on and why do I feel such a chump when it comes to this machine with the most basic of things. Drives me mad. Anyone before I take a hammer to this thing?
