Please bare with me, I'm trying to find out if their is a glitch with my unit, or perhaps I'm going the wrong way about.

1.) I have a sample on pad 1
2.) I hit shift and pad copy, to copy the sample from pad 1 to pad 2
(I am manually chopping up my samples)
3.) I hit sample edit to chop the sample a little bit more
4.) After I chop the sample, I assign the newly chopped sample to pad 2 and then hit sequence edit again to go back to the main screen
5.) I hit pad 1, and it sounds exactly like pad 2 when they're suppose to sound different.

Am I doing something wrong?

a little more info..... I'll take a two bar sample and leave it whole on the first pad, copy it to the second pad, chop it down, then copy it to the third pad, chop it down and keep going.... if that might help things.

^what he said, you're basically just copying the same sample to different pads. You're copying whats on a pad to another pad, but you're still using the same sample, make duplicates of that sample and assign those duplicates to pads then you can edit them independently
