I brought the max 25 I presumed u would be able to control the RENs mixer with the faders so I don't have to use the qlinks I was wrong
Akai u suck

It was stated from the beginning that the software is only compatible with the Ren and studio. The software is dedicated software. Otherwise people would copy the software and use it with any other device, it be the Max 25 or any other.

Cheers for the reply
Where did they say that because it's not on the box
Is the software not protected by having to connect the ren to authorise it I can control transport the pads midi cc but not the mixer because of fear of copyright
You would of thought to make the software more appealing and to sell the products ie keyboards they would integrate them to a level or to give u control that is in other daws
I can control other daws mixers with the keyboard but not the mpc software thing is I got rid of my daw when I brought the ren because I just use it standalone with vst I've tried a few keyboards thought for simplicity I'd get the akai max ,used to have a Yamaha kx with cubase and they had stuff on there exclusive to that so why can't akai not the only problem I'm having akai connect is having problems was causing software to crash whilst scaning for vst's analog lab is screwed I move the fader which is set to main volume on analog lad and loads of things move from lfos cut toffs and scrolling though presets
Prob just take it back shop won't be happy but nevermind
Kinda starting to regret getting the ren too

When using the AKAI Pro MAX49 along with the MPC-R/S you gain the ability to use the exclusive features of the MAX controller to manipulate and adjust parameters that you could not do otherwise. Use of the buttons and touch faders, intuitive step-sequencer, and even it's unique CV controls will bring your MPC projects to a whole new level.
That's off note repeat but they also had the wrong info about using the ren with cubase
From what I read on there I maybe able to control the ren more if I use it as a plugin in another daw don't really want a do that but I've got protools xpress so I'll give it a go
By aldred411 Tue Apr 08, 2014 11:11 pm
Something ain't right because I can control the pan pot in the track mixer with the first fader I can't control nothing else but the pan def moves from left to right that's in stand alone I give up on pro tools xpress the mpc struggles to work transport don't detect the play stop starts it and keyboard didn't work I kept getting message about lost connection
After having a play around with this keyboard I quite like it the arp/ pattern mode is pretty cool u can change the patterns with the fader syncs well with mpc software records the midi too all they need to do is get them faders working in the mixers and this would be the RENs top controller
By aldred411 Tue Apr 08, 2014 11:23 pm
Actually it's fader 13 not 1 and the cc is 10 so that controls the pan for the track u are on in the screen
So can anyone tell me what the cc is for track volume
By aldred411 Tue Apr 08, 2014 11:32 pm
Yes I did it track volume cc is 7 I set this to the fader I can now control the fader in the mixer page from the fader on th keyboard
U can prob only set 1 fader and then your have to select each track from ren before adjusting the volume but that a do for now
:smoker:
By aldred411 Tue Apr 08, 2014 11:49 pm
Ok it's still a bit long cause u have to back to the main page to select your track so I suppose each ren track will need its own midi channel so you can set 1-16 on ren tracks to match 16 faders on the keyboard
I request this feature
Add u can select the track with mouse in track mixer or track view so it's a bit quicker
it won't work in programme mixer

akai u don't suck

They've stated this many times.

The new flagship MPC is a fully integrated hardware/software system: MPC Renaissance allows you to create using classic hardware controls and an integrated pop-up display, while its exclusive MPC Software empowers you with unprecedented, expandable production capabilities on your Mac or PC. -

And yes, I feel your pain. I feel so too about the 5000 and now the Ren.

Don't exclusive software means you can't get it without the ren/studio not where gonna build this software and lock it down to this controller , and does fully integrated means this is the only bit of kit you can use with this software , no offence
Like I posted above I've managed to set midi cc to control some aspects of the ren software and mixer but it's a bit slow and could be better, I gather what we could do with is if the mpc had ,hui or mackie control , or the ability to set a midi channel for every channel so you set independent midi channels for the keyboard faders I'm gonna phone akai today lol
I think they should bring out add ons for the ren hardware wise a. Bit like steinberg did with that cmc collection but they wouldn't need to do as many maybe integrate there keyboards or build a little touch fader unit to use.

Also u know you only have to plug the ren in to authorise the software then u can use the software on the go this makes the whole protection thing flawed.
You get 3 authorisation right but if you copy the p.list file on Mac called mpc unlock then copy it to another computer put it where it goes start the programme for first time it will ask you to unlock the software but it's got all your details already click ok and it unlocks without using one of your 3 chances ,I'm pretty sure this works I had it installed on 3 computers just had to connect the ren once at the start ,I then had to reformat my drive on one computer and just copied the file from an external drive that I had saved it to and the mpc worked and that was the forth time I'd unlocked it, I've just formatted my MacBook so I'll try it again then I have def done more than 3 unlocks
I also started with a studio sold it connect my new ren without installing the software started the mpc software that was for the studio it worked but it came up with a message saying this is not the mpc you unlocked the software with.
so if I sell my computer what's to stop me leaving that on there for someone else or installing on friends computers ,maybe it's locked to my mac user account I know the mpc lock file set all your setting like file directory path because I had to change all of that on each computer
They should of used an ilok or something

What they say, is that the software is exclusively for the Ren and Studio. This was also mentioned in interviews and such.

You're right about the hui or mackie control. I am planning to get myself such, within a few months. I am doing reacher as we speak. There is a lot you need to lookout for. Such as the OS system, up-to-date drivers compatibility with the specific DAW and volume.

If could just copy paste your credential to activate the program, it would be considered a safety flawed. Way too easy to hack.

it's not exclusive as I can control and adjust the mixer from the keyboard by setting the midi cc u just need more scope
1,You can now use the ren to control other software without using the mpc software
2,You can use the software without the ren
You can and always could connect any controller and control the software to a certain level
I don't know what that is but it ain't exclusive
Maybe in the future it will change like other things have 1 and 2 above
What I can't get my head around is do they want this software to be taken seriously and compete or not because it seems they would rather put using the ren in another company's daw before using there own ,I wouldn't mind as much but it didn't work in cubase well enough when I got it for me to want to use it this my have changed but I decided to sell cubase stick with the ren software and use it standalone .
Anyhow I've made peace with the ren and max I've got it set up ,save a template for the ren in the max ,transport works the arp and step seq are sync'd , the akai connect software seems to work with all the plug ins ,I can control the faders, pan in the mixer from the keyboard 1 track at a time not the best but it a do , most of the controls I can do from the ren which I planned to do anyhow that's why i got a keyboard with no knobs , I just wanted faders which the ren or mpc software need
If anyone's interested It's a good little keyboard and a good addition to the mpc software and ren the touch faders are pretty cool they just need more use

Things have changed indeed, during the evolution of updates.

Who knows what 1.7 will bring?
